Steph Curry Reveals Where He’d Rather Be Instead of Met Gala 2026

Steph Curry and Ayesha Curry aren’t staying courtside tonight.

The NBA star and his wife made a major fashion statement at the 2026 Met Gala, arriving in striking Balenciaga looks that showed they’re successful both on and off the court. (You can see photos of all the celebrities who attended here.)

Following the “Fashion Is Art” theme, Steph wore a black hooded trench coat over a stylish black suit. Ayesha chose a sheer black dress worn over a black bodysuit, and finished her look with black leather gloves.

Although the Golden State Warriors’ point guard is happy to be at the Met Gala with other stylish athletes, he’s also conflicted because the NBA playoffs are happening right now.

Steph shared with Zuri Hall during Live From TopMob: Met Gala 2026 that while he enjoys being at the Met Gala, it unfortunately means he’s missing out on playing basketball at the moment.

But seriously, the 38-year-old said it’s great to see his fellow competitors branching out and expressing themselves through fashion. He finds it really impressive and enjoyable to see a different side of the people he competes against.

Steph and Ayesha Curry, married in 2011, last appeared at the Met Gala in 2021. They coordinated their outfits around the “Lexicon of Fashion” theme, with Ayesha wearing a gray and gold floral dress and Steph adding matching floral details to his black tuxedo.

Ayesha, who shares four children – Riley (13), Ryan (10), Canon (7), and Caius (23 months) – with Steph, has always cared about fashion and her personal style.

She told Bustle in 2021 that her passion for fashion and beauty came from her mother and grandmother. She remembers her grandmother always wearing makeup, and that taught her the importance of taking pride in how you look from a very young age.

Ayesha and her mother, Carol Alexander, share a close connection through their shared belief that fashion is a way to express who you are.

She explained that she and her mom share a similar sense of style—they both aren’t shy about using bright colors and patterns. However, her mom prefers softer, more feminine touches like flowers, bows, and ribbons, while she herself is drawn to traditionally masculine clothing, such as oversized or well-fitted suits and substantial shoes.

Steph has admitted his wife, Ayesha, has a much larger wardrobe than he does, jokingly pointing out she takes up more space in their closet.

He admitted in 2023 to being very particular about keeping his side of the closet tidy, telling People magazine that he playfully puts some daily pressure on his partner to maintain a similar level of order. He described himself as organized, or even a little obsessive-compulsive, about cleanliness.

Okay, so Steph just said the most amazing thing! Apparently, she totally pushes him to be better, and it’s the sweetest! He admitted she’s always bringing her A-game, and it actually challenges him to keep up with her style! Can you even imagine?! It’s like, she’s not just supporting him, she’s actively making him step up his own game, and he loves it! It’s just…goals, honestly.
