Almost two decades since its release, Ben Stiller’s fantasy movie – which only received a 42% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes – is unexpectedly popular on Hulu. The Disney-owned streaming service added many well-loved films to its selection in September, and among titles like Nicolas Cage’s The Surfer and John Wick: Chapter 4, you’ll find one of Stiller’s most overlooked movies that you should definitely add to your watchlist.
The film we’re talking about is Night at the Museum. Ever since it became available on Hulu on September 1st, the movie – featuring Ben Stiller as Larry Daley, a night security guard at a museum who finds things are more exciting than he expected when the exhibits come to life – has been quite popular. It’s currently at No. 11 on Hulu’s Top 15 Movies list. If you’re enjoying Night at the Museum, you can also stream the sequels, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, on the platform as well.
Why You Should Watch the Night at the Museum Trilogy
The Night at the Museum films are enjoyable for everyone, not just children. They offer a really fun movie experience for audiences of all ages. The idea behind the movies – a museum where the exhibits come alive at night – creates a wildly entertaining story. We meet a lot of lovable and unusual characters, brought to life by a talented cast in delightfully fun and memorable performances. Besides the characters played by Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Rami Malek, and Ricky Gervais, the later films also feature performances by Amy Adams, Dick Van Dyke, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling, Eugene Levy, and many others.
The Night at the Museum films are delightfully charming, magical, and endlessly rewatchable, and now you can stream the entire series in one convenient location just as a new chapter is on the horizon. The upcoming movie isn’t a sequel, but rather a fresh take-a “reimagining”-that will feature a brand new story, a different museum setting, and a whole cast of new characters. While specific details are still secret, the project was initially announced back in July, with Shawn Levy and Dan Levine producing through 21 Laps and Emily Morris leading the development.
Other Family-Friendly Movies Now on Hulu
Hulu is a fantastic streaming option for families, and they’ve recently expanded their selection of kid- and family-friendly movies and shows. Starting September 1st, you can now stream the first three Night at the Museum movies, along with How to Train Your Dragon, How to Train Your Dragon 2, the original Space Jam (from 1996), and School of Rock on Hulu.
Hulu is adding a bunch of great choices for families next month! Starting October 1st, you’ll be able to stream Hotel Transylvania, Hotel Transylvania 2, Ice Age: Collision Course, Madagascar, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.
