The BBC has released early spoilers for upcoming EastEnders episodes, and they suggest some intense and troubling storylines are on the way.
The BBC One soap opera has been showing a troubling, yet important, story about how young men are being influenced by hateful online content that targets women. This is happening through the actions and beliefs of a newer character, Joel Marshall (played by Max Murray).
I was so excited when they introduced this character! He’s the son of Ross Marshall (played by Alex Walkinshaw), who is the latest partner of the iconic Vicki Fowler – now portrayed by Alice Haig. It’s great to see the show continuing with familiar faces and new family connections!
Since joining the show, Joel has been accused of several instances of sexual misconduct. It’s also been discovered that he engaged in comparable problematic behavior while living in Australia. Furthermore, he has directly threatened Vicki on multiple occasions.
The teenager has negatively impacted Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall), who just recently made amends with his parents following a period where he was abusive towards his mother, Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace).

Something happens at Walford High next week involving two students. This will be shown in a special episode and is expected to spark conversations throughout the Square about the dangers of harmful things people share online.
Things will get worse when Joel becomes violent with Vicki during this episode. Following this EastEnders installment, a special documentary will air, focusing on the important issues the show addresses.
We now have details about next week’s episodes, and they suggest some difficult consequences and painful realities are coming, especially for Joel’s father, Ross.
