This week, the Epic Games Store is offering just one free game instead of the usual two. PC players can currently download an open-world survival game released in 2024, which is still in early access. While it’s not common for the Epic Games Store to give away early access titles, it’s happened before. As always, you only have one week to claim this free PC game. On October 9, this 2024 open-world game will be swapped out for a new free offering, which will include two free games. Check it out!
This week’s free game on the Epic Games Store is Nightingale, developed and published by Infelxion Games. The game has proven quite popular since launch, as shown by its user review count, although opinions are definitely mixed. On Steam, where it normally costs $29.99, the open-world survival game has nearly 10,000 user reviews, with a 71% positive rating, earning it a “Mostly Positive” designation. However, looking at only recent reviews, the approval rate drops to 64% and is considered “Mixed.” This is largely due to some recent updates to the early access game not being well-received by players. Other reviewers have also noted performance issues – a common problem for games built on Unreal Engine 5 – and the slow pace of updates.
About the Game
Nightingale is a survival game set in an open world, where you’ll spend a lot of time making things – it’s similar to other games of this type. You can play the game on PC, either by yourself or with friends. No matter how you play, your goal is to become a Realmwalker and restore the power to the old portals that connect different worlds.
Players who choose to try this offer and start the early-access game should understand it’s still under development and will be expanded and improved before the full 1.0 version is released. However, there’s already a good amount of content available. Completing the main story will take around 25 hours. If you include optional side quests and activities, you can expect to spend closer to 50 hours playing. With its PVE elements and replay value, many Steam user reviews suggest you can easily spend over 50 hours exploring this open-world game.
With that being said, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment with your thoughts, or continue the discussion on the ComicBook Forum.
