Erin Bates is sharing an encouraging update amid her battle with sepsis.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m so happy to share some wonderful news! Bringing Up Bates‘ alumna just told us she’s walking again! It’s been weeks since she faced some health challenges after welcoming her and husband Chad Paine‘s seventh child, sweet little Henry. What a blessing to see her regaining her mobility!
“I’m truly speechless,” Erin shared on Instagram on Oct. 2. “My leg hasn’t been working at all (ever since the seizure I had in the hospital). I’ve needed help getting around – people have carried, wheeled, and supported me, even through tears and prayers… but today – it moved.”
“Today I took steps,” she continued. “They weren’t perfectly steady, but they were steps I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to take again.”
The 34-year-old woman, who shared pictures of her family of nine in her post, continued by describing the complex feelings she experienced after facing so many challenges.
You know, I’ve been through so much, I’ve reached a point where I’ve cried so hard I started laughing, and then laughed so much I was crying again. It’s been an emotional journey, but honestly, my heart is just bursting with thankfulness. I keep saying it to myself: Jesus, You are so incredibly faithful. You truly are the Healer. Everything – all the praise and honor – belongs to You. I’m just so grateful.
And Erin-who is also a mom to Carson, 10, Brooklyn, 8, Everly, 7, Holland, 5, Finley, 3, and William, who is 22 months old, along with Chad-finished her message by thanking everyone for their support during her difficult time.
“Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us and offered their support,” Erin concluded. “You’ve all played a role in this incredible recovery. We are eternally thankful to the doctors, nurses, and therapists who dedicated so much to helping me get better. Today, we are truly amazed and grateful for every bit of progress we’ve made!”
The reality star recently shared encouraging news, just a month after Chad revealed that Erin had experienced a “lengthy and severe seizure” while in the ICU. This health crisis began with a serious UTI and kidney infection, which quickly led to septic shock shortly after she gave birth.
Until recently, Erin was improving, but we’ve unfortunately found ourselves facing heartbreak, worry, and sadness again,” he shared on Instagram on Sept. 4. “Erin is very weak and was barely conscious for hours.”

The former star of Total Bellas shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit in the chest by Piper Niven, another WWE wrestler, during a match in July 2025.
“It’s OK,” she reassured her sister Bella Garcia then. “We’ll get it fixed eventually. I explained to the doctor, ‘Now that I’m newly divorced, as soon as I retire, I’ll come back to you, and we’ll make sure these horses look their best, because they’re going to be competing again soon, and they can’t look like this.’”
The 12 Years a Slave actress received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids-harmless growths that form on or near the uterus-in 2014, which was also the year she earned an Oscar for her role in the film.
She didn’t share her diagnosis publicly until 2025, when she posted on Instagram, explaining she had been “suffering in silence” for over ten years.
She explained that when girls enter puberty, they’re often told that periods are supposed to be painful, and that this pain is just an unavoidable part of being female. She added, “We’re often dealing with this alone, even though it affects so many of us.”
In July 2025, the Daisy Jones & The Six star revealed she needed hospital treatment for a hernia-which is a weak spot in the abdominal or groin muscles-brought on by wearing very tight pants.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 actor shared in April 2025 that he was getting better after having surgery because his appendix was close to rupturing.
“Last week, I began experiencing stomach pain,” Brian shared in an Instagram video. “I went to the emergency room and discovered I had a perforated appendix – it hadn’t quite burst, but it was very close.”
He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”
During a soccer game on September 14th, the Racing Louisville midfielder unexpectedly collapsed just minutes into the match against the Seattle Reign at Lumen Field in Seattle.
According to Reuters, the United States Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field, supported by a teammate, when the referee signaled for medical staff to evaluate her. She then collapsed a few seconds later.
Medical staff provided immediate attention to Savannah on the field, and she was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests,” the National Women’s Soccer League posted on X later that evening. “She is currently in stable condition and is alert.
Adam Devine revealed that he continues to experience effects from injuries he suffered as a child. When he was 11 years old, he was hit by a cement truck, and the consequences of that accident are still felt today.
“It’s been incredibly difficult,” Devine shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast in 2025. “I experience muscle spasms everywhere. They actually told me I was seriously ill-I was facing a life-threatening situation within the past year.”
He observed that pain is often temporary, explaining, “My body has all these things that are a little wonky and a little wrong with it.“
The Bachelor Nation star revealed he had to go to the hospital while literally crawling on his hands and knees because of severe back pain. The pain got much worse during a road trip he took with a friend.
“Currently, I still have a tingling sensation in my knees and toes, which is really strange,” he shared on a March 2025 episode of his Trading Secrets podcast. “To give you some context, I don’t want to sound arrogant, but just two or three weeks ago, maybe a month ago, I was squatting around 295 pounds. But now, I can’t even do a squat on that foot. I can’t do a single-leg squat; I fall over. It feels like I’ve had a stroke or something.”
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

The Even Stevens star revealed in February 2025 that she was shot in the face during a birthday celebration for her husband, Brendan Rooney. She was on a trip to go clay pigeon shooting at the time.
She explained on Instagram that another group was with them and accidentally fired a weapon in the wrong direction, hitting her in the face. @thebrendanrooney quickly helped, checked her condition, and took her to the hospital. She was struck five times, and one of the shots was very close – less than an inch – to her right eye.
The Kim Possible star explained, “Sadly, a small piece became stuck behind my eye, and doctors believe it’s too dangerous to try to remove it with surgery right now. They’ll keep checking on me, but thankfully, my vision is still normal.”
As a huge fan, hearing the actress speak really touched me. She shared how incredibly grateful she is just to be alive. She said, “I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much,” and it was so heartfelt. She described seeing her whole life pass before her, and honestly, it was a powerful reminder. She urged everyone – and I truly believe this – to hug the people around you every chance you get. She emphasized that life can change in an instant, and it really resonated with me. It’s a message we all need to hear. I’m so glad she’s doing better and sharing this important message.
Although the internet can be harsh, Amy Schumer is grateful it helped her find answers about a health concern.
“After doing a lot of interviews, people online started commenting on my “puffier” face, and I thought, ‘Everyone, just calm down,'” Amy remembered on a January 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy. “But then doctors began commenting, saying they were concerned and that something seemed off with my face. I was shocked-being criticized by doctors!”
These doctors suggested she might have Cushing syndrome, possibly caused by high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This made the Life & Beth creator realize, “Wait a minute-I *did* receive steroid injections for my scars.”
“I had a breast reduction, a C-section, and other procedures, so I was getting these steroid injections,” Amy explained. “They caused me to develop Cushing syndrome, something I never would have known about if not for the online comments.”
Today, Amy is just thankful she’s healthy. In a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, she shared, “Discovering I had a type of Cushing that would resolve on its own and that I was otherwise healthy was the best news I could have hoped for.”

Hailey Bieber experienced a terrifying ordeal in March 2022 while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber, when she began to show signs similar to a stroke.
“Justin noticed something was wrong and asked if I was OK,” Hailey, the founder of Rhode skincare, shared in a YouTube video a month later. “I couldn’t answer him at first because I was confused. He asked again, and when I tried to speak, I realized I couldn’t. The right side of my face started to droop, and I couldn’t form a complete sentence.”
Although the facial drooping and speech difficulties eventually passed, Hailey went to the hospital to get checked out.
“The doctors did scans and discovered I’d had a small blood clot travel to my brain,” she explained. “They diagnosed it as a TIA [Transient Ischemic Attack].”
Further testing at the University of California, Los Angeles, revealed that Hailey had a hole in her heart, known as a patent foramen ovale (PFO).
She described how the blood clot had moved into her heart, then escaped through the hole and traveled to her brain, causing the TIA.
Hailey shared that she underwent a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.
The year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also went through a difficult time.
In June 2022, the “Baby” singer revealed he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which temporarily paralyzed parts of his face and led him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained, “This virus attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves, causing paralysis on my face.” He showed fans, “As you can see, this eye doesn’t blink, I can’t smile on this side, and this nostril won’t move. There’s complete paralysis here.”
He also shared with his followers that it had become “increasingly difficult to eat,” but thankfully, the paralysis eventually subsided.
“He’s doing really well,” Hailey said on Good Morning America in June 2022, adding, “He’s feeling much better. It was a very frightening and unexpected situation, but he’s going to be completely fine, and I’m so thankful he’s okay.”
Initially, Jamie Foxx kept the details of his hospitalization in April 2023 to himself, but he eventually shared what happened.
He recounted that one day in Atlanta, he had a severe headache and asked a friend for an aspirin. However, “Before I could get the Aspirin, I went out. I don’t remember 20 days,” he explained in his 2024 Netflix special What Had Happened Was…
Jamie stated he first saw a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home. But his sister, Deidra Dixon, worried about his condition, drove him to the hospital where doctors discovered he had a brain bleed which led to a stroke.

“I don’t recall much,” she shared on Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser. “I remember the sound of a helicopter. It felt like I was drifting, and then I saw my grandpa. After that, everything went dark, but then I saw light again. That’s when I knew, I just knew I had died that day.”
“My organs were basically failing,” she went on to say. “I didn’t know I had rhabdomyolysis. And rhabdomyolysis is what your body does when it’s telling you, ‘I’m going to shut down.’”
Emilia Clarke is known for filming intense battle scenes in Game of Thrones, but in 2019 she revealed a personal battle in an essay for The New Yorker titled “A Battle for My Life.”
She described experiencing a severe headache while at the gym, writing, “I reached the toilet, sank to my knees, and proceeded to be violently, voluminously ill.” The pain-sharp, stabbing, and constricting-quickly worsened, and she realized something was seriously wrong with her brain.
Clarke was rushed to the hospital for a brain scan.
“The diagnosis was quick and frightening: a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain,” the Emmy nominee explained. “I’d had an aneurysm, a burst blood vessel.”
She underwent immediate surgery to repair the aneurysm, describing the pain as “unbearable.” While recovering, she experienced aphasia, leaving her unable to speak clearly and “muttering nonsense.”
Fortunately, the aphasia resolved after a week, and Emilia was discharged from the hospital a month after being admitted.
However, a 2013 brain scan revealed that the growth had “doubled in size,” requiring a second surgery.
“When I woke up, I was screaming in pain,” she wrote. “The surgery hadn’t worked. I had a major bleed, and the doctors told me my chances of survival were very low if they didn’t operate again. This time, they would have to access my brain by opening my skull.”
Thankfully, Emilia shared, she is now “at a hundred per cent.”
As a longtime fan, I was so relieved to hear that Snoop Dogg‘s daughter, Cori Broadus, is doing better. She’s always been so open, and recently shared how much she appreciates her family.
Back in January 2024, she experienced a “severe stroke,” and she said her loved ones immediately came to her side. She told TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi in December 2024, “I texted them that I just had a stroke and sent them a picture. Everybody just came to my rescue.”
It turned out she had to stay in the hospital longer than expected because of other health issues. She explained, “I could have went home after my stroke, but my lupus wasn’t doing so well. My kidneys were failing. It was a lot going on.”
Thankfully, Cori is now recovering well. She shared, “I’m doing great. I just had a little bit of motor skills that I had to work back on. But other than that, I was fine.” It’s amazing to see her strength and positivity, and I’m sending her all my best as she continues to heal, especially after sharing her story in Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story.
Shailene Woodley experienced significant health challenges during her early 20s.
“I got to the point where I was losing my hearing. I couldn’t walk for more than five minutes without needing to lie down and sleep for hours, and everything I ate caused stomach pain,” the actress explained on a September 2024 episode of the SHE MD Podcast. “It was a combination of problems, diagnoses, and different doctors telling me different things.”
Shailene-who has chosen to keep the specific condition private-decided to find her own answers.
“I come from a very holistic background and I study herbalism,” she added. “So I really wanted to work with both traditional doctors, [and] also independent healers.” I was just trying to find some comfort and peace within myself.”
It was a lengthy process-lasting for 10 years.
“Over that decade, a lot of other issues arose from feeling so much physical discomfort,” the Big Little Lies star noted, “like becoming afraid of food because everything hurt my stomach. That led to mental struggles with body image, confusion about who I was, and feeling safe in my own body.”
After addressing both her physical and mental wellbeing, Shailene is now doing much better.
“It was a journey that eventually resolved itself physically, and I am very healthy,” she shared. “I’m so happy to be able to say that.
