A new Avengers: Secret Wars rumor suggests an important villain could soon be coming to the MCU.

I’m so excited! Production on Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday has officially finished! It’s being directed by the incredible Joe and Anthony Russo – you probably know them as the Russo Brothers. We can finally mark our calendars because it’s set to hit theaters in 2026. And if that wasn’t enough, the sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is already planned for 2027! I can’t wait!

Which villain will reportedly be introduced in Avengers: Secret Wars?

As reported by scooper James Mack, via ComicBookMovie, Black Swan is expected to first appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Avengers: Secret Wars.

Currently, this information is just a rumor and should be considered as such. Marvel hasn’t made any official statement about Black Swan appearing in either of the next Avengers films.

As a longtime comic book fan, I’ve been following the Black Swan character, and it’s interesting that there have actually been two different villains using that name in Marvel Comics so far. The first one, as far as I can tell, debuted back in 2002’s Deadpool #65. She was created by Gail Simone and the talented artists at Udon Studios, and she’s a mutant with a really creepy ability: she can basically infect people’s minds with a telepathic virus. It’s a fascinating, if unsettling, power.

The other Black Swan, also called Yabbat Ummon Tarru, was created by Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting. She first appeared in New Avengers #1 in 2013. Yabbat’s home planet, Earth-1365, was destroyed during an incursion. She survived thanks to a group who believed incursions happened due to their god, Rabum Alal (later revealed to be Doctor Doom), and were actually needed to protect the entire multiverse. Yabbat then journeyed to Earth-616 during the first incursion and was captured by the Illuminati.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit US cinemas on December 18, 2026, as the latest installment in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following that, Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on December 17, 2027. Before either of these films, fans can look forward to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which arrives on July 31, 2026.
