Missed the preorder for Digimon Story Time Stranger and didn’t get early access to Agumon Bond of Bravery & Gabumon Bond of Friendship? Don’t worry, you can still get them! This guide will show you how to unlock these Digimon and their Digivolutions. Follow along to learn how!
The Preorder
If you preordered any version of Digimon Story Time Stranger, you’ll immediately unlock both Agumon and Gabumon, along with all of their digivolutions. You won’t need to grind for anything-just open them in your inbox tab.
Here’s the quickest method to obtain the fully evolved forms of Agumon and Gabumon. This also unlocks the requirements for their Bond versions. However, if you didn’t purchase the extra content or forget to preorder, don’t worry! You can still unlock both characters through dedication and consistent evolving. It will just take a bit more effort and a lot of evolving.
How to Unlock Agumon and Gabumon
As I’ve been playing, I’ve found you can actually unlock both Digimon just by going through the story! The regular versions you get during gameplay can then evolve into the Bond of Bravery and Bond of Friendship versions. However, there are definitely some things you need to do *before* they’ll evolve – you’ll need to meet specific requirements for each one. It can take a little while and be a bit lengthy to do, but honestly, isn’t anything really good worth putting in the effort for? I’m excited to get them both!
Agumon
Once you obtain your initial Digimon, you’ll begin to see Koromon appear. You’ll fight him on a few occasions, after which you can transform Koromon into an egg. Continue playing through the story to advance.
So, eventually I got to a point in the game where I found out I could Digivolve my Digimon! It turns out to get my Koromon to evolve into an Agumon, I needed to meet a couple of things: I had to be Agent Rank 1 or higher and have at least 530 Max HP. Pretty straightforward once I knew what I was aiming for!
Okay, so you’ll need to get your Koromon up to at least level 7. That’s what you need to do to meet the Max HP requirement. Don’t worry about the Agent Rank though – I’m already Rank 1 or higher, so that part’s already done!
You will now be able to evolve your Koromon into an Agumon.
Bond of Bravery Evolution
We don’t have a confirmed list of requirements for unlocking the Bond forms of these Digimon. However, looking at the Demo and previous games, we have a pretty good understanding of what’s needed.
To transform your standard Agumon into the Bond of Bravery version, you’ll need to fulfill these three conditions (as shown in the demo):
- Agent Rank 8 or higher
- 3630 attack or greater
- 46 Bonds of Valor Agent Skills learned
You’ll probably won’t be able to unlock this Bond version until you’re nearing the game’s end, unless you focus solely on one of the five skill trees – something we don’t advise. This is even more true if you’re also aiming to get the Bond version of Gabumon.
Gabumon
To get Gabumon, you’ll need to progress through the story until you battle MetalGreymon alongside Omegamon. After that, you’ll start seeing Punimon Digimon appear.
You’ll need to level up your Punimon to around level 3 or 4. Doing so will meet the conditions to evolve your Digimon into a Tsunomon: you must be at Agent Rank 1 or higher, and your Digimon needs an attack stat of 200 or more.
Next, level up your Tsunomon to around level 6. This will let it evolve into a Gabumon once you meet these conditions: Agent Rank 1 or higher, a maximum SP of 230 or more, and an attack power of 250 or greater.
Bond of Friendship Evolution
I’m still trying to figure out exactly what I need to do to get my Gabumon to evolve into the Bond version. It’s a bit of a mystery! But a lot of people think it’s probably pretty similar to what you need for Agumon, just… tweaked to fit with Gabumon’s own skill set. Basically, the requirements are likely the same, but adjusted to match Gabumon’s path. I’m hoping someone figures it out soon – I really want that Bond version! You can find more discussion online, too.
Early in the Game
Digimon Story Time Stranger is brand new, so we’re still figuring things out. But, after playing the demo, we have a good understanding of what you need to do to unlock the Bond forms of Agumon and Gabumon. It seems there are a lot more questions than answers at the moment.
For the time being, you now understand how to unlock the Digimon and what you should strive for to obtain both the Bond of Bravery and the Bond of Friendship versions.
