Many of us have worked unpleasant part-time jobs during our student days, often just to have some weekend money. But ‘Delivery Run‘ introduces Lee (Alexander Arnold), who isn’t a student at all. He’s a struggling slacker facing eviction, nearly broke because of gambling, and owes money to some dangerous local criminals. His only job is delivering food for a pizza place, and things are about to get much worse for him.
He drives along the snowy, remote roads of Minnesota – though the movie was actually filmed in Finland – with just his goldfish, Reggie, for company. While on these snow-covered roads, he gets into a road rage altercation with a snowplow driver, who then chases him all night long.
As a big fan of thrillers, I really got a kick out of Joey Palmroos’s new film, *Delivery Run*. At just 84 minutes, it’s a fast-paced ride that reminded me a lot of Spielberg’s *Duel* – imagine that same feeling of relentless pursuit, but set in the snow! There’s even a touch of *The Hitcher* thrown in. While it doesn’t quite reach the masterful heights of Spielberg’s early work, it’s still a thoroughly enjoyable watch. The film does shift gears a bit as it goes along, and honestly, the very last scene felt a little unnecessary. But overall, with a great performance from the lead, it’s perfect for a fun Saturday night…though it might make you think twice before ordering takeout!
We chat to lead actor Alexander Arnold about the making of the film……
