EastEnders airs major Ben Mitchell updates in dramatic BBC iPlayer release

Okay, huge heads-up for any fellow EastEnders fans! I just finished watching the episode from Tuesday, October 7th, 2025, and it’s a *big* one. Seriously, if you haven’t seen it yet on BBC iPlayer, be warned – it’s packed with major spoilers that will ruin the surprises. You’ve been warned!

As a big EastEnders fan, I was really hooked by what happened with Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) today! They’ve given us two major pieces of news about him after his return, and it was a pretty intense day for his character.

Ben returned home to be with his husband, Callum Highway, at the funeral of Jonno.

Callum was shocked to see Johnny at the graveside, especially since his affair with Johnny Carter had just been revealed to Ben’s family, causing a lot of anger.

Ben continued his playful and flirtatious behavior, and casually mentioned he’d been moved to a different prison in the UK after informing on his cellmate. He then kissed Callum, which made Johnny visibly jealous.

Ben was happy and supportive when Callum volunteered to say a few words about Jonno, completely unaware that Callum would then thank Jonno for taking care of him.

Ben announced he’s moving to Manchester, and playfully pretended to be sad about leaving Jonno, even though Jonno mistreated him. He then happily led his delighted mother, Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), and father, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), into The Queen Vic.

Ben chatted and laughed with Tracy, a bartender he’d known for years, but the cheerful moment didn’t last long and things quickly became tense.

Johnny wanted Callum to keep their relationship a secret from Ben for now, but Callum was set on telling him.

Callum told Ben he was sorry, but that he had been seeing someone else.

Despite trying to keep Johnny’s identity secret, Callum accidentally revealed him with a look, which immediately enraged Ben. Ben rushed towards Johnny, but prison guards quickly intervened.

Exposing Callum’s betrayal, Ben was further heartbroken to realise his relatives already knew.

Callum begged Ben to hear him out, and Ben agreed. Callum then explained how Ben had hurt him deeply by being dishonest and ending up in prison.

Callum also explained that keeping his promise to wait for Ben made him feel isolated, and he eventually found companionship with Johnny.

Ben then asked Johnny if he treated him well, and if Callum truly loved him, emphasizing that he needed to hear a definite answer.

When Callum said that yes, he does love Johnny, Ben immediately announced their divorce!

After finding out Phil had previously tried to abduct his daughter, Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown), Ben threatened him not to do it again. He then told Callum that he’d been with multiple men while in prison.

Callum understandably felt terrible, but Ben was left on his own, looking at a picture from their wedding. It seems like Ben’s remark about being attracted to other men was just a way to cover up his true feelings!

Will Callum regret his decision to choose Johnny, and is this the last we’ll see of Ben?

Bowden put in a sterling performance, and we’re certainly hoping to see him again.

This week on EastEnders, fans were delighted to see Stuart, Callum’s brother (played by Ricky Champ), return to the show.

But with Stuart back only temporarily, will Callum be left with only Johnny on his side?
