Some eager Battlefield 6 players on PlayStation 5 are already getting their copies of the game in the mail before it officially launches this Friday, October 10th.
If you prefer physical copies, you’ll be happy to know the complete game is on the disc. You’ll likely still need to download a small day one patch, so there will be some downloading required at launch. However, you won’t have to download the entire 68GB of the game.
The game box does state that you need to stay connected to the internet to play. As of right now, the servers are working, but unfortunately, it seems you won’t be able to play the single-player story mode without an internet connection, which is disappointing.
It’s reassuring to know that Battlefield 6 will have a traditional physical copy, and not just a key to access the game online, especially since the game is heavily focused on online play.
Looking back, these issues make other flawed physical releases, like DOOM: The Dark Ages and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, even more disappointing. Those were single-player games that clearly shouldn’t have been released in such a broken condition.
