The Arrowverse (The CW’s superhero shows) and the Marvel Cinematic Universe actually share some surprising links. The Arrowverse often nods to Marvel projects, even calling its heroes “Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.” Several actors have also appeared in both universes – for example, Neal McDonough played a role with Captain America before joining the casts of *Arrow* and *Legends of Tomorrow*. Now that the Arrowverse has ended, fans hoped Marvel might acknowledge the success of these DC TV shows.
Marvel’s main cinematic universe doesn’t seem interested in acknowledging or incorporating actors from The CW’s Arrowverse shows like Green Arrow and The Flash. But a different part of Marvel is reaching out to The CW, and just announced a casting decision involving an actor shortly before a special milestone birthday.
It’s Been Over a Decade Since The Flash Took Down His First Meta

During its second season, *Arrow* cleverly introduced a backdoor pilot for the new show *The Flash*. The season finale featured Barry Allen gaining his superpowers during an explosion at the particle accelerator, but *The Flash* later revealed he wasn’t the only one impacted. Barry awakens from a coma to discover that two brothers, Clyde and Mark Mardon, were also caught in the blast and believed to be dead. When Clyde reappears with weather-controlling abilities, Barry realizes he must stop him. However, convincing anyone of his story is difficult, as people have always dismissed his pursuit of the impossible, so Barry decides to take on the role of the city’s new hero and defeat the villain himself.
In the very first episode of The Flash, Clyde is killed by Joe West after Joe realizes his adopted son was telling the truth. Things quickly become more complicated when Mark, Clyde’s brother, reappears later with the same superpowers and begins causing trouble in Central City. The Weather Wizard continues to be a challenge for Team Flash in later seasons, and their battles help The Flash understand the boundaries of his abilities. It’s unfortunate that Mark isn’t featured more prominently in the show, but the actor who plays him is doing well in his career.
Liam McIntyre Is About to Tackle a Very Important Marvel Role

Liam McIntyre is well-known for his five appearances on *The Flash*, but he primarily works in animation. He’s had significant roles in *Star Wars Resistance* and the popular comedy *Family Guy*. He also lends his voice to video games, including lead roles in *Gears of War 4* and *Gears 5*, and a supporting role in *Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order*. However, his biggest project yet is on the horizon – he’s starring as the lead character in Insomniac Games’ upcoming *Marvel’s Wolverine*.
Wolverine is a hugely popular Marvel character, and two actors are particularly known for bringing him to life. Hugh Jackman is famous for playing Wolverine in the *X-Men* movies and the upcoming *Deadpool & Wolverine*. Steve Blum has also made a significant contribution, voicing the character in many animated series and video games. Now, actor Liam McIntyre aims to become equally recognized when *Marvel’s Wolverine* is released in 2026, and considering the quality of games made by Insomniac, he has a strong chance of succeeding. Though McIntyre may not often think about his role as Weather Wizard, both that villain and Wolverine are likely to be memorable highlights of his career.
Fun fact: Liam McIntyre, who starred as Wolverine in the *Marvel* series, also played Weather Wizard in the *Arrowverse*! Share your thoughts and discuss this in the ComicBook Forum!
