Celeste Rivas Hernandez‘s loved ones are honoring her life.
It still doesn’t feel real. Just a month after they found her… poor little girl, in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla… she was finally laid to rest. They buried her at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights, California. I keep checking for updates, wishing it was all a nightmare. It’s just… heartbreaking. I can’t stop thinking about her and her family.
According to photos published by TMZ, Celeste’s family held a memorial service for her on October 6th. The service took place in a large white tent set up at the cemetery.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m following this story closely. It’s heartbreaking to learn the funeral is taking place almost two weeks after the family received their daughter’s remains on September 23rd, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Coroner. It’s a difficult time, and my thoughts are with them.
Los Angeles police are still investigating how Celeste’s body ended up in a car owned by David Burke, known as D4vd. The car had been parked on a Hollywood Hills street for several weeks before being towed.
In a press release on September 30th, police stated that, given how long the Tesla had been left abandoned, Ms. Rivas Hernandez may have been dead for several weeks before her body was found.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner still hasn’t figured out how or why Ms. Rivas Hernandez died. Because of this, it’s currently unknown if anyone committed a crime beyond hiding her body.
The LAPD stated that its Robbery-Homicide Division is carefully investigating all details of the case to find out what happened and bring justice to Celeste Rivas Hernandez and her family.
Police are investigating the death of Celeste, but have not yet determined if it was a homicide. While singer Jason Derulo hasn’t been charged with anything related to the case, detectives searched his home in the Hollywood Hills near where Celeste’s car was found, according to sources at ABC News.

D4vd was reportedly renting the house before his *Withered* World Tour was scheduled to begin in August. He canceled the tour after Celeste’s body was found. While he did perform on September 17th, the day after her remains were discovered, he later cancelled the remaining dates on his U.S. tour without making a public announcement.
I was SO excited for the international dates! They were supposed to start October 1st in Norway and go all the way to December 10th in Australia… but then, devastatingly, Ticketmaster announced *those* shows were cancelled too. It’s just… everything is cancelled. I can’t even.
While the investigation into Celeste’s death is ongoing, D4vd’s manager confirmed to NBC News that the singer is working with law enforcement.

D4vd, whose full name is David Anthony Burke, was born in Queens, New York, and later moved to Houston, Texas, at the age of 13.

As someone who’s seen a lot of creators come up, I’ve noticed a common thread: many start by building a community online. That’s exactly how D4vd got his start, streaming games like Fortnite and trying to gain traction on YouTube. But he hit a snag in 2021 – dealing with copyright issues when adding music to his videos. That’s when he turned to his mom for help, which is a really relatable moment for anyone who’s been building something from the ground up!
He explained to Benny Blanco in a September 2024 interview with *Hero* magazine that he felt desperate enough to complain to his mom. He told her he was struggling financially and didn’t know what to do. She simply told him to make his own music and left him alone, which made him realize he could actually try that.
D4vd, who hadn’t had any formal musical training beyond singing casually, began creating music using an app on his phone. His songs quickly gained popularity online, and as more of his original tracks went viral on TikTok, his music career started to flourish.
He finally put out his first album, *Withered*, in April 2025, and quickly began his first tour around the world.

On September 8th, police in Los Angeles went to a Hollywood tow yard after reports of a bad smell coming from a car, according to NBC News sources.
Los Angeles police discovered human remains inside a Tesla’s front trunk. The car was registered to David Anthony Burke, who performs as the artist D4vd, and was listed under his name in Hempstead, Texas.
According to police, the car was taken to the impound lot because it was left abandoned in the Hollywood Hills.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed on September 16th that remains found in a Tesla belonged to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who had been missing since April 5, 2024. She was 13 years old when she disappeared.
Records from the Medical Examiner’s Office, obtained by TopMob News on September 17th, show that a cause of death hasn’t been determined yet. While she was found on September 8th, officials believe her body had been in the car for a significant amount of time before being discovered and was in a state of advanced decomposition.

After learning about the death of Rivas Hernandez, a representative for D4vd told NBC News that the singer has been notified and is working with authorities while continuing his tour.
Since then, D4vd canceled the remainder of his U.S. dates.
