Devolver Digital and System Era Softworks just released a 17-minute gameplay video and details about *STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions*, the newest adventure in the *ASTRONEER* series, which is designed with multiplayer in mind.
Get the details below.
A New Kind of ASTRONEER Adventure
STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions isn’t a simple space exploration game—it’s a challenging adventure focused on teamwork, thinking on your feet, and a bit of playful chaos as you travel between planets.
New recruits start their adventure aboard the ESS Starseeker, a cutting-edge space station equipped with everything they need – and overseen by the sometimes-unpredictable Fronteer Force, a team of celebrated Action Science Heroes. Players can explore solo or team up with up to three friends, customizing their gear before embarking on fast-paced missions to various alien planets.
- Step One – Gear up. Shop, craft and trade your way to the perfect loadout – or ignore all common sense and fill your pack with beach balls and fireworks.
- Step Two – Deploy. The moment your dropship lands, the clock is ticking. Time is short, planets are hostile and everything (including your teammates) can, and probably will, go sideways.
- Step Three – Survive, celebrate and swap stories back on the Starseeker. For all its “critical missions” and “serious science,” life on the station is more like a space party bus than a research facility.
First Stop: Planet Tephra
Tephra is the first planet Astroneers will explore – a vibrant and enigmatic world located in the far reaches of space. It’s filled with dense jungles, expansive oceans, and deep caves, all hiding both wonders and dangers.
Every planet in *STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions* is uniquely designed, so you can revisit your favorite places – whether it’s a beautiful view, a secret stash, or the spot where your teammate Carl met his unfortunate end with a flower monster. As your team makes progress, you’ll unlock new areas to land in, revealing unexplored lands, tougher obstacles, and larger missions that require teamwork.
Tephra is only the first of many discoveries. As the Starseeker ventures further into unexplored space, the crew will find new planets, each with unique threats, creatures, and narratives connected to the Fronteer Force’s highly classified mission. It’s an incredibly important undertaking.
First Look at an Expedition
During the *STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions* demo, a team landed on the planet Tephra to fix important equipment for the scientists stationed there. The task seemed straightforward at first, but they quickly discovered the local wildlife had covered everything in a sticky substance. The team had to get creative, using their EXO Tools and special Nozzles – which are attachments that change how explorers interact with the world around them – to overcome the challenge.
The team, known as the Squad, had a tough job on Tephra: they needed to establish a communications link from the high cliffs, clear gooey residue from equipment with special nozzles, deal with troublesome local wildlife, and get off the planet before their time was up. Naturally, they also got sidetracked with playful chases, silly antics, and a bit of general mayhem. After all, no Starseeker adventure is complete without a little bit of delightful chaos!
STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions expands the ASTRONEER universe with new adventures. Whether you prefer careful planning, eager exploration, or simply having fun in space, the Starseeker has something for everyone.
The game *STARSEEKER: Astroneer Expeditions* is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC (through Steam) in 2026.
