George Clooney recently revisited a classic film, *Ocean’s 11*, by directing a new trilogy. It was a natural fit for him, as he’s always projected a classic Hollywood vibe. Part of that image has long been associated with enjoying a drink, and though he’s now 64, reports say Clooney had quite a bit to drink at this year’s Tony Awards – and he’s openly acknowledged it.
George Clooney recently told Esquire that he gave up alcohol for about six months while preparing for and performing in his Broadway play, *Good Night and Good Luck* – he even dyed his hair for the role! But after the Tony Awards, where the show received several nominations, Clooney decided to celebrate and indulged quite a bit, as he remembers…
I had way too much to drink – I was practically falling down. I came home with Amal, and I was just losing it, laughing uncontrollably. We were in bed, and I remember saying I’d made up for all the time I’d been sober in one night. The next day I felt terrible – really sick, but in a strangely funny way. It was like being drunk in high school – just silly and reckless.
I’ve always known George Clooney had a thing for a good drink! He’s not the type you’d picture going wild at parties, but it’s well known he actually *owned* a tequila company. And get this – he sold it for a billion dollars! That definitely cements his connection to the world of alcohol, wouldn’t you say?
The lead singer of Wolfs explained that he practically stopped drinking to protect his sleep and voice, ensuring he could perform well throughout the tour. But once the tour ended, he reportedly indulged to make up for lost time.
Anyone can overdo it with alcohol and feel sick the next day, but it tends to be harder on you as you get older. George Clooney, however, found the whole experience funny. Most celebrities probably wouldn’t openly discuss getting very drunk after an awards show, but Clooney seems completely unashamed.
George Clooney seems determined to stay young at heart, whether he’s enjoying a drink or playing jokes on his friends. With the potential new *Ocean’s 11* movie in the works, it’s safe to say he and the cast will have a blast – and likely share a few drinks. Let’s hope Clooney doesn’t overdo it, though; he’s earned his rest and doesn’t need a hangover on set!
