Dolly Parton is setting the record straight.
Following worries from fans about her health, sparked by a recent comment from her sister Freida Parton, Dolly Parton shared an update on how she’s feeling.
Dolly started a video on October 8th, explaining that she was filming commercials for the Grand Ole Opry – which is why she was dressed in Western wear. She addressed recent concerns about her health, asking if she *looked* sick and pointing out that she was actively working. Dolly wanted to reassure everyone that she was doing okay and thanked them for their concern and prayers, saying she always welcomes them as a person of faith.
I want to assure you I’m doing alright, though I am dealing with some difficulties, as I said before. When my husband, Carl Dean, was ill for a long period, and after he passed away, I neglected my own well-being and let important things slide.
As Dolly explained, she’s now focused on taking care of herself currently.
I finally went to the doctor, and they said I needed to address a couple of health issues. It wasn’t anything serious, but I did have to cancel some plans to be closer to home and Vanderbilt Hospital, where I’m getting some treatments. I just wanted to let you know that I’m okay and not seriously ill.
Shortly after her sister Freida asked for prayers, 79-year-old Loretta Lynn shared a health update, sparking excitement among her fans. Freida, 68, later explained that she hadn’t actually been up all night, but was simply expressing her concern and prayers for the Grammy-winning singer.
In a Facebook post on October 7th, she explained that she didn’t intend to worry anyone when she asked for prayers for Dolly. Dolly hadn’t been feeling well, and she simply asked for prayers because she believes in their power.
Similarly, Dolly’s sister Stella Parton made a statement clarifying her sister’s predicament.
Dolly Parton recently shared with her fans that she’s being treated for kidney stones. Her sister, Freida, asked for prayers for Dolly’s recovery, as she always worries when a sibling isn’t feeling well. Dolly, age 76, shared this information on X (formerly Twitter) on October 8th.
Dolly first mentioned health issues in September after having to cancel a public event because of a kidney stone infection. She then decided to postpone all her concerts until December to fully recover.
Dolly recently shared on Instagram that she’s facing some health issues and needs to undergo a few medical procedures. She jokingly compared it to a major car tune-up, but clarified it wasn’t related to cosmetic surgery.
Because of some unforeseen medical issues, the singer known for “9 to 5” announced she’s delaying her concerts until September 2026. She wants to make sure she’s fully recovered and can give her fans the performance they deserve.
Dolly reassured everyone she wasn’t planning to retire. ‘God hasn’t given me any sign to stop,’ she said. ‘But I do feel like He’s telling me to take things a little slower so I can be prepared for whatever exciting things come next with all of you.’

She didn’t share her diagnosis until 2025, when she revealed on Instagram that she had been privately struggling with the condition for over ten years.

Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, even though it can be harsh, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked “puffier,” Schumer was surprised to see doctors commenting on her appearance online, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out her face looked unusually swollen and urged her to get checked. This prompted Schumer to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections after a breast reduction and C-section, which can cause the condition. She wouldn’t have connected the dots without the online comments. Thankfully, doctors determined she has a form of Cushing syndrome that will resolve on its own, which she called “the greatest news imaginable.” She shared this relief in a February 2024 newsletter, happy to be healthy.

In March 2022, Hailey Bieber experienced a frightening health scare while having breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber. She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, initially struggling to respond when Justin asked if she was alright. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face began to droop.
Although the symptoms eventually subsided, Hailey went to the hospital where doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).
Further testing at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). Doctors determined the blood clot had traveled to her brain through this hole, causing the TIA.
Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now recovering well.
The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that temporarily paralyzed part of his face and led him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.
In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the virus affected nerves in his ear and face, causing paralysis. He showed fans that he couldn’t blink, smile, or move his nostril on one side of his face, and that it was becoming increasingly difficult to eat. Fortunately, the paralysis eventually went away.

In his 2024 Netflix special, *What Had Happened Was…*, he explained that he suffered a severe headache one day while in Atlanta. Before he could even take an aspirin, he lost consciousness and doesn’t remember the next twenty days.
Initially, a doctor gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home, but his sister, Deidra Dixon, was worried and took him to the hospital. There, they discovered he had a brain bleed that resulted in a stroke.
After surgery, twenty days later on May 4th, Jamie woke up in a wheelchair unable to walk. He then went to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy. He expressed his gratitude for the prayers he received, saying, “I needed every prayer.”

Emilia Clarke, known for her role in *Game of Thrones*, revealed a harrowing health battle in a 2019 essay for *The New Yorker*. While filming the series, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described becoming violently ill and realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.
A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage – a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain – due to a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she struggled with aphasia, leaving her unable to speak coherently.
Though the aphasia eventually passed and she was discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had doubled in size, requiring a second surgery. This procedure was unsuccessful, leading to a major bleed and putting her life at risk. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.
Fortunately, Emilia is now fully recovered and says she is “at a hundred per cent.”

Drawing on her background in herbalism and holistic medicine, she sought help from both traditional doctors and alternative healers. This period of physical discomfort led to deeper issues, including fear of food and struggles with body image, identity, and feeling safe in her own body.
