Jessica Biel to Star in ‘The Ambler Warning’ Robert Ludlum Adaptation

The popular Bourne series began with novels by Robert Ludlum, starting with The Bourne Identity in 1980. These books were adapted into five blockbuster movies starring Matt Damon (in all but one film), earning over $1.6 billion worldwide. While a new movie hasn’t been released in almost ten years, fans may soon get a fresh take on the series. Jessica Biel is set to star in and produce a TV adaptation of Ludlum’s novel The Ambler Warning, which shares a similar storyline.

According to Deadline, a new deal between Paramount Television Studios and Iron Ocean Productions (founded by Biel and Michelle Purple) has led to the development of a television series based on The Ambler Warning. This project follows earlier discussions before the Paramount-Skydance merger. Jason Horwitch will write and serve as showrunner for the series, and will also executive produce alongside Biel, Purple, Ben Smith, and Jeffrey Weiner of Captivate Entertainment – the company behind films like The Bourne Legacy (2012) and Jason Bourne (2016).

Jessica Biel is a talented and diverse actress who has proven herself in many genres, from dramas like *The Illusionist* and *Total Recall* to comedies such as *I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry* and *Easy Virtue*, and action films like *Blade: Trinity* and *The A-Team*. Beyond acting, she co-founded the production company Purple in 2007, focusing on impactful storytelling and supporting women in the industry. Recent successful projects include *Cruel Summer*, *Candy*, and *The Sinner* – her performance in *The Sinner* even earned her an Emmy nomination. This experience makes her a natural fit to lead a new action series in the style of *Bourne*. Biel and Purple have stated that *The Ambler Warning* is only the first of many projects to come.
