The first seven episodes of *Peacemaker* Season 2 have been full of surprises, including a guest appearance by Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and the shocking discovery that Peacemaker’s seemingly ideal world is actually a terrifying alternate reality where the Nazis won World War II. With one episode left, fans are anticipating a major finale. James Gunn has confirmed that the season finale will be important for setting up the future of the DC Universe, particularly the *Man of Tomorrow* project. Many viewers speculate that a dark twist involving a character called Overman could be revealed.
Fans of the show *Peacemaker* are talking about Overman, a dark version of Superman from DC Comics. Instead of landing in America, this Superman landed in a region of Europe and became a cruel leader enforcing a Nazi government. One fan theorizes that Overman’s power is why Auggie Smith from the alternate Earth-X didn’t resist the oppressive regime. They explain that Overman controls Earth-X with force, suppressing anyone who challenges his rule, and compares the resistance group, the Sons of Liberty, to the Rebel Alliance from *Star Wars*, noting they are intelligent, well-organized, and cautious.
Viewers debated whether Overman even existed within the show’s universe. One fan pointed out the show hadn’t provided any evidence of Overman, and just because a character appears in the comics doesn’t mean they’ll be included in the TV series. Others argued Overman wasn’t necessary to explain why Auggie wouldn’t oppose the Earth-X government, believing the existing police and military forces would easily defeat him. However, some fans liked the idea of Overman, with one commenter noting people seemed to think Auggie could easily win against Earth-X without considering Overman could instantly defeat him.
Could Overman Appear in the DCU?

Despite rumors that David Corenswet, who plays Superman, might make a guest appearance on *Peacemaker*, James Gunn has firmly denied those claims. After Nicholas Hoult appeared on the show, Gunn confirmed Corenswet won’t be involved. Knowing Gunn’s honesty with fans about future projects, it’s unlikely he’s being untruthful. He could have avoided a direct answer, but instead, he clearly stated Corenswet won’t be on the show, which likely means another rumored cameo – that of Overman – won’t happen either.
It’s possible a different actor could play Overman in the DC Universe. While alternate versions of characters from *Peacemaker* look similar to their main counterparts, that doesn’t have to be the case for everyone. The idea of the multiverse easily explains changes in how characters appear. James Gunn has already hinted that while the character of Clemson Murn is part of the official DCU storyline, his appearance isn’t fixed, meaning Chukwudi Iwuji could play a different character later on. Therefore, Overman might not look exactly like Superman.
From a story standpoint, it’s questionable whether now is the best time to introduce a character like Overman. It would be disappointing if a villainous version of Superman only had a quick appearance, especially since the *Peacemaker* finale already has a lot to resolve. The episode might be stronger if it focused on the story of the 11th Street Kids instead of bringing in such a major superhero variant. While the finale will be longer to address fan concerns about pacing, that extra time is better spent giving satisfying endings to the storylines of characters like Chris Smith, Emilia Harcourt, and Leota Adebayo. Introducing Overman would be a significant development that could overshadow the emotional heart of the season.
Despite this, the version of Keith from Earth-X is still alive and appears to be becoming a villain for the final showdown. Realizing he might need assistance to defeat the 11th Street Kids, he could enlist the help of powerful individuals from his world, potentially convincing Overman to join him by portraying Chris and his friends as dangerous terrorists. As the DC Universe expands, *Peacemaker* will likely play a key role in shaping the franchise’s future, so it will be exciting to see how things unfold.
