Season 6 of All Creatures Great and Small features several changes. The season begins with Mrs. Hall no longer at Skeldale House. Helen and James have moved to Heston after having another baby, and the war is now officially over.
Siegfried and Tristan are always arguing – it seems like they can’t go more than a few minutes without getting into a disagreement.
In the newest installment, both characters rush to impress Charlotte Beauvoir, the General’s fashionable daughter, who Anna Madeley portrays as lively and assertive.
Charlotte was told to expect a visit from ‘Captain Farnon,’ but her father didn’t say *which* Captain Farnon, so two of them showed up.
“Impressive,” she says, on greeting the siblings. “You ask for one and they provide a spare.”
This leads to a fierce competition as they both try to show the general they’re the skilled horseman he had in mind, all before the next event—whatever it may be—begins.
Despite everything going on, Tristan and Charlotte realize they share a connection that goes beyond their love for horses.
Callum Woodhouse praised Charlotte Beauvoir as a valuable asset. He also noted that Tristan is growing up, becoming more self-reliant and taking on greater responsibility, and seems to have moved beyond his previous pattern of casual relationships.
“So, is he ready for something more serious? It’s been really fun to play.”

You might recognize Gaia Wise, who plays Charlotte, from her appearances in popular crime shows like The Chelsea Detective and Silent Witness. She’s previously had guest roles in both.
She’s also appeared in the films *A Walk in the Woods*, adapted from Bill Bryson’s book, and the thriller *Dead of Winter*, both alongside her mother, the acclaimed Dame Emma Thompson. Her father is actor Greg Wise, known for his roles in *Sense and Sensibility* and *The Crown*.
Samuel West praised Gaia Wise, calling her “terrific.” He described a moment while filming where she strongly resembled her mother, Emma Thompson, with whom he’d worked on “Howards End” and “Carrington” in the early 1990s. He said the experience felt like stepping back in time, making him feel decades younger.
I was really struck by Gaia – something about her presence, maybe her expressions or how she moved, just brought back a lot of memories. It was a surprisingly strong reaction, and I’m hoping we continue working with her.
Tristan will no doubt be hoping for just that…
