Channing Tatum isn’t jumping on any opportunities without his daughter.

Channing Tatum, known for his role in *21 Jump Street*, shared that his daughter, Everly, who is 12 years old, often helps him choose which acting jobs to accept. Everly is his daughter with ex-wife Jenna Dewan.

Channing described it as a constant juggling act, explaining on the October 8th episode of *The Kelly Clarkson Show* that he recently discussed a potential work opportunity with his daughter. He’s considering a movie filming in Australia next year, which would mean being away from her for nearly two months, and they talked about how to handle that.

The actor, known for his role in *Magic Mike* and a resident of Brentwood, California, mentioned that the only time he’d been separated from her for a significant length of time was while filming *Roofman*.

He explained they had a similar conversation before, when she first moved to North Carolina. She’s now in middle school and attending a much larger school than she’s used to, which is proving to be more challenging for her.

Channing faced a tough choice about returning as Gambit in the new *Avengers: Doomsday* movie, and he wasn’t sure if he should, for similar reasons he had before playing the role in *Deadpool & Wolverine*.

I was originally scheduled to film *Avengers* in London,” the 45-year-old said. “It would have been a similar situation, just a shorter shoot. But I wasn’t sure I wanted to do it because I didn’t want to miss the start of my child’s middle school years.

Evelyn was glad to see Channing take on a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially after he officially ended his divorce from Jenna last September, six years following their split.

It absolutely floored me when she told me to go for it. She actually said, ‘No, Dad, that’s a really good part – I *want* you to do that.’ Honestly, it brought tears to my eyes. It meant the world to me that she had that much faith in me and encouraged me to pursue it.

Channing believes involving his daughter in his work is crucial to their relationship. He explained, “Even if she doesn’t fully grasp the reasons behind my choices now, it’s important for her to feel included in the process.”

Now that Everly is becoming a teenager, her father, a former star of *Step Up*, realizes things are about to get challenging—and he’s already experienced a preview of what’s to come.

He shared on *The Drew Barrymore Show* on October 9th that his wife has become even more assertive than usual. He said she recently scolded him – something she’s never done before – even while they were trying to solve an escape room puzzle.

He remembered thinking to himself, ‘I wonder what that is,’ and his daughter immediately told him, ‘Dad, don’t touch that!’ He was surprised by her reaction, and now feels like they both need therapy because of that single incident.
