10 Justice Leaguers Who Were Also in The Suicide Squad, Ranked By Powers

The Suicide Squad is a group of villains sent on incredibly risky missions. If they don’t succeed, the government will execute them. It’s easy to think of the team as being made up of DC’s most dangerous criminals – characters like Killer Croc and Deadshot certainly fit that description. But surprisingly, the Suicide Squad has sometimes worked with members of the Justice League, a heroic team whose leader, Amanda Waller, often clashes with the Squad. This has happened with villains who turned their lives around and became heroes, and also when heroes and villains teamed up to achieve a common goal.

As a huge movie fan, I’ve always been fascinated by characters who walk the line between good and bad. So, I started thinking about the most powerful people who’ve been on *both* sides – you know, those who’ve served with the rough-and-tumble Suicide Squad *and* the iconic Justice League. We’re talking about folks like Harley Quinn, who’s had a pretty wild journey, and even Barbara Gordon, who briefly joined the Squad. Here’s a rundown of the most impactful members who’ve done time with both teams.

10) Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn is a well-known member of the Suicide Squad, largely due to her roles in the movies. While she doesn’t have superpowers (aside from being resistant to toxins and poisons), she’s a capable fighter. She’s skilled in acrobatics, gymnastics, and close combat, and is known for being fearless, often running towards danger without hesitation.

Harley Quinn briefly joined the Justice League during the *Justice League: No Justice* storyline, teaming up with The Atom, Cyborg, Flash, and Damian Wayne as part of Team Wisdom. She’s proven to be incredibly resilient – even without superpowers. For example, in *Suicide Squad* #15 (2012), she famously bit off a piece of the Joker’s tongue to assert her independence, a strong and self-reliant image DC Comics has consistently emphasized.

9) The Question (Vic Sage)

Vic Sage was the first hero known as the Question, and he was known for believing in conspiracy theories – many of which turned out to be true. He’s joined the Justice League several times, and while he’s often wary of other heroes, he’s always been a dependable teammate when called upon. In one version of the DC universe (the New 52), Vic even led the Suicide Squad, acting as Amanda Waller’s supervisor within the government.

Similar to Harley Quinn, The Question doesn’t have any superpowers. But, because of his hidden identity, he wields a lot of power and was even able to lead the Suicide Squad. Eventually, Vic Sage became a villain after a conflict with Waller escalated. However, as The Question, he’s incredibly powerful due to his exceptional detective skills – he’s so good, he even figured out Batman’s secret identity!

8) Oracle (Barbara Gordon)

Barbara Gordon’s paralysis was a shocking event, but she brilliantly adapted, becoming the powerful information broker known as Oracle. She was a remarkable character, and a rare portrayal of someone with a disability who exceeded the abilities of many superheroes. While she operated as Batgirl and even joined the Justice League, as Oracle she also worked with the dangerous Suicide Squad, beginning shortly after being paralyzed by the Joker.

Barbara Gordon knew her time as Batgirl was finished. She secretly joined the Suicide Squad, providing support remotely through computers during their missions. The team didn’t realize it was her – or the former Batgirl – helping them. Beyond her crucial behind-the-scenes work with the Squad, Barbara also bolstered the Batman Family and founded the Birds of Prey.

7) Bronze Tiger (Justice League Task Force)

Bonze Tiger is a highly skilled assassin, ranking among the most dangerous in the DC Universe. Though known as a killer, he’s also fought on the side of good and has occasionally teamed up with Batman. He’s appeared in DC Comics as part of the Suicide Squad, where he once led the team on a mission for Amanda Waller to recover an item from Brainiac.

During the period after the ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ event in DC Comics, Bronze Tiger was part of the Justice League Task Force, an elite team led by Martian Manhunter. While he doesn’t have superpowers, Bronze Tiger is considered a world-class martial artist, proficient in many fighting styles. He’s also an expert with weapons and a highly skilled spy.

6) Captain Cold

Captain Cold, also known as Leonard Snart, is a major villain from the Flash’s group of enemies, and gained a lot of fans after appearing on The CW’s DC shows. What sets Captain Cold and his fellow Rogues apart from other villains is that they’re mostly thieves who follow a strict code of ethics. This made him a natural fit for teams like the Suicide Squad and even, surprisingly, the Justice League.

In the 2018 *Suicide Squad* comics, Amanda Waller compelled him to join the team. Following Lex Luthor’s assistance in rescuing the Justice League during *Forever Evil*, he and Captain Cold were officially invited to become members in *Justice League* Vol. 2 #34. Captain Cold demonstrated his power by accepting Luthor’s offer to modify himself, granting him the ability to control and project absolute zero temperatures as icy blasts.

5) Katana

Katana gained significant popularity through the DC movies and is unique on this list as a primarily heroic character who also worked with the Suicide Squad. She’s been part of several hero groups, including the Justice League, the Outsiders, and the Birds of Prey. During the *Infinite Frontier* storyline, she served as security for Santiago Gallo, who the Suicide Squad was assigned to protect.

Katana is a formidable asset to her teams, using magic to control the Soultaker Sword. Forged in the 1300s, this unique weapon absorbs the souls of those it defeats and can even communicate with its wielder. Remarkably, the Soultaker Sword can pierce Kryptonian skin, making Katana one of the few individuals capable of fighting Superman effectively.

4) Killer Frost

Killer Frost, also known as Caitlin Snow, has become a fan favorite thanks to her appearances on The CW. Originally a villain, she’s now a hero called Frost, and a member of the Justice League of America. Before becoming a hero, though, she was briefly forced to work with the dangerous Suicide Squad.

Elsa’s powers are incredibly strong, and sometimes even put her in danger. Despite this, she’s become a true hero, willingly sacrificing her chance to be cured so she could save everyone. This means she’ll always struggle with her unstable abilities, which can cause her to lose control. But in battle, she’s proven she can use her powers effectively, creating ice spikes that harm opponents, and even freezing people with a touch – or completely draining their heat.

3) Enchantress

The character Enchantress was the villain in the first *Suicide Squad* movie, but her comic book background is far more complex than what the film portrayed. While she started as a member of the team in the movie before revealing her villainous side, she wasn’t always purely evil in the comics. In fact, she was a member of Justice League Dark, a team of DC’s magical heroes.

Enchantress was a tremendously powerful being contained within the body of a woman named June. She could only access her abilities when June allowed it. Before the ‘New 52’ reboot of DC Comics, Enchantress joined the Suicide Squad, agreeing to participate if Amanda Waller would help her manage her darker impulses. As a remarkably potent sorceress, her powers surpassed nearly everyone on Earth – she was even capable of locating the incredibly powerful Spectre.

2) Vixen

Vixen was a powerful member of both the Justice League and the Justice League Task Force, thanks to the Tantu Totem, which let her take on the abilities of any animal. Besides her time with the Justice League, she also worked with the Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey.

Vixen joined the Suicide Squad after seeking the government’s help to avenge friends killed by Caribbean drug dealers. Although she succeeded in killing the criminals’ leader, her loss of control during the fight led to an agreement: she’d work with the Squad until she could better manage her powerful, animalistic side. Ironically, Vixen’s strength actually *increases* when she loses control, as the resulting rage allows her to rival even the most powerful opponents, which is why many fans feel she doesn’t get the recognition she deserves as a DC hero.

1) Lobo

Okay, so as a huge comic book and movie fan, let me tell you about Lobo. He’s seriously one of the most powerful guys to ever hang out with both the Suicide Squad *and* the Justice League. He first crashed onto the scene as this interstellar bounty hunter – basically, he’d take any job and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He’s actually been a Justice League member a few times, but it never really stuck because, well, he’s incredibly violent. It’s funny, because he’s super judgmental – he was one of the first to give Frost a hard time for her past, which is pretty ironic considering his own…career path!

Lobo has made a few appearances with the Suicide Squad, most notably in the DC Rebirth series, where he was part of Amanda Waller’s original team. Although Batman once destroyed his head, Lobo was able to recover, demonstrating his incredible resilience. Lobo’s strength is virtually limitless, and he’s fought on equal footing with powerhouses like Superman and Etrigan the Demon.
