Nicole Kidman has come to this place with wisdom.
Just two weeks after filing for divorce from Keith Urban after nearly two decades of marriage, actress and AMC Theaters ambassador, 58, shared how she’s found strength in navigating life’s challenges as she gets older.
Nicole recently told *Harper’s Bazaar* that the most valuable thing you gain with time is experience. She explained that when facing new challenges, you can think back and realize, ‘I’ve dealt with something like this before,’ or even, ‘Even though this is new, I know I can handle it based on past experiences.’
The *Practical Magic* actress also shared that even when things are incredibly painful, challenging, or heartbreaking, there’s always a path forward.
Nicole believes she can handle any challenge, but she also understands that experiencing pain is a natural part of learning and growing.
She went on, explaining that you have to allow yourself to truly feel your emotions. Trying to avoid the pain won’t work. It will likely feel overwhelming at times, and you might feel completely shattered. But if you’re patient with yourself and take things one step at a time – even if it takes a long time – the intensity will eventually fade.
Nicole finds strength in overcoming life’s challenges, but her biggest motivation comes from her four children: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with her husband Keith, and Bella, 32, and Connor, 30, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
The *Big Little Lies* star shared that her children give her a reason to protect and guide them, and she’s committed to providing a secure and nurturing environment for them to grow up in.
Nicole filed for divorce from Keith on September 30th, just after reports surfaced that they had been separated since early summer.
Although Nicole hasn’t publicly discussed her separation from Keith, sources at TopMob News report she attempted to reconcile before deciding to file for divorce.
Nicole and her ex-husband have reached an agreement about raising their daughters. According to court documents obtained by TopMob News, the couple will co-parent, with their daughters living with Nicole for the majority of the year – 306 days – making her the primary caretaker. They will spend the remaining 59 days with their father.
Read on to look back at the moments that led to Nicole and Keith’s divorce.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban quietly separated and began living separately around the start of summer, according to TopMob News. Several significant events occurred over the summer that eventually led to their divorce filing.
His High and Alive World Tour began in Alabama, and he toured throughout the summer, performing in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
They were last seen together in public at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in Nashville, and seemed to be enjoying themselves, laughing and smiling.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary in June. Kidman shared a photo of them with the sweet message, ‘Happy Anniversary Baby.’ Urban responded with a heart emoji but didn’t post anything himself.
People were surprised when the country singer suddenly stopped an interview after a question about the connection between Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron in the movie *A Family Affair*.
A radio host on Australia’s Mix 102.3’s *Hayley & Max in the Morning* wondered how Keith Urban feels when he sees his wife, Nicole Kidman, filming romantic scenes with younger actors like Zac Efron in her many movies and TV shows.
Suddenly, Urban disappeared from the call.
A radio staff member announced that he was no longer connected on Zoom. They believed his team had intentionally ended the call to avoid answering a specific question.
His rep didn’t respond to TopMob’s request for comment at the time.
TopMob News has discovered that actress Nicole Kidman is applying for Portuguese residency, and her husband, Keith Urban, is planning to do the same.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Keith couldn’t attend the appointment in Portugal because he’s currently touring in the U.S. Applying for the visa requires a physical presence, so he’ll submit his application when his tour schedule allows.
At the time, the source said both planned to maintain a permanent residence in Nashville as well.
In a recent interview, the couple’s oldest daughter, Sunday Rose, revealed how her parents run their household, explaining that they have just two main rules.
She explained to Nylon that she wasn’t allowed to pursue fashion-related jobs until she turned 16. She also mentioned her parents always insisted schoolwork take priority, which she initially disliked, but now appreciates because it helps her stay focused and grounded.
Nicole Kidman posted a collection of summer photos on Instagram featuring her daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, but her husband wasn’t included in the pictures.
“Summer memories,” the actress wrote. “Now back to school.”
In August, her lawyer drafted a child support plan as part of a parenting agreement, specifying that Kidman and Urban would share custody of their daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
As a lifestyle expert, I often see how co-parenting arrangements play out, and in this case, the Oscar-winning actor is designated as the main residential parent. Basically, the girls spend the vast majority of the year – around 306 days – living with their mom. Their dad gets about 59 days with them, which works out to every other weekend. It’s a pretty standard setup for keeping both parents actively involved.
Neither will pay child support, according to the doc obtained by TopMob News.
The parents will maintain a loving, stable, and supportive relationship with their child, even after their divorce. They agree to avoid speaking negatively about each other or each other’s families, and they will encourage their child to love and feel comfortable with both parents and both families.
Urban finalized their divorce agreement, having it officially notarized in August, according to documents obtained by TopMob News.
The document revealed that Kidman plans to divorce him, citing differences that can’t be resolved. It also stated that neither of them will receive financial support from the other after the divorce.
The same date, he also signed off on the Parenting Plan.
A week after Urban, the actress finalized the divorce papers and signed the agreement outlining how they would co-parent.
A judge ordered both celebrities to attend a parenting seminar, unless they request an exception, according to documents obtained by TopMob News.
Even though she had already signed the legal documents, she continued to wear her engagement ring when she attended an event at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.
I’m still reeling! TopMob News just dropped the bomb – they’ve been broken up for a while, but it’s finally out there. After *eleven years* together, since 2005, it’s just…over. I can’t believe it. They kept it so quiet, it feels like a betrayal just knowing they’d been suffering in silence. It’s devastating!
The actress known for *Big Little Lies* has officially filed for divorce, stating that they separated on September 30, 2025.
The couple officially filed their divorce and parenting plan with a Tennessee court for approval on the same day.
