While Tron isn’t as widely known as sci-fi giants like Star Wars or Alien, it still has a dedicated fanbase who will be excited to hear that a new movie is coming out.
Look, I absolutely loved the earlier movies, so stepping in to make the next one felt like a huge challenge. Knowing how much people enjoyed them definitely added to the pressure!
The previous movies were incredible, and that created a lot of pressure for me and the whole team to make this new one even better, or at least live up to the high standard already set.
Ever since the last film, producers had been exploring ideas for a sequel. They finally decided on a direction that would significantly change the established formula for the franchise.
Producer Sean Bailey said the concept of expanding the ‘Tron’ story to include the Dillinger grid and bringing digital elements into the real world was a major turning point. He explained that the film will now show the digital world crossing over into our own.
He explained that the thought of a light cycle racing through the city streets really energized everyone.

How to watch Tron: Ares – is it streaming?
Currently, you can’t stream Tron: Ares. For now, the only way to watch it is in theaters.
I’m so excited! The movie is hitting theaters on Friday, October 10th and will be playing in almost all major cinemas nationwide, even on IMAX! It looks like we’ll have plenty of chances to see it – I’m going to check my local cinema’s website for showtimes now.
When will Tron: Ares come to Disney+?
If you’re not sure it’s worth seeing in theaters, the movie will be available to stream online soon. You’ll be able to rent or buy it digitally first, and then it will be added to Disney Plus.
We don’t have confirmed release dates yet, but we can make an educated guess. Disney usually releases films on streaming about two months after they hit theaters, so we expect this one to be available on platforms like Prime Video around mid-December.
Disney+ usually releases movies about 100 days after they come out in theaters, so we expect this one to be available to stream around January. We’ll share a firm date as soon as we have it.

Tron: Ares plot – what is it about?
Unlike most stories, this new movie features a two-way journey: not only do humans enter the world of AI, but AI entities also come into our world. Here’s the official description of the film:
Ares, a remarkably advanced computer program, is launched into the real world on a risky mission, representing the first time humans directly interact with artificial intelligence. As Ares explores his new environment and encounters people, his awareness – and sense of morality – begin to develop.
He unexpectedly teams up with Eve Kim, the talented CEO of ENCOM and a skilled computer programmer. She’s also searching for a vital piece of code originally created by Kevin Flynn. Together, defying their superiors and constantly hunted, they struggle to survive and build a future where technology and people can coexist.
