The MCU’s New Daredevil Costume Finally Adds Something Almost Every Version Ignored

The Marvel Cinematic Universe started with characters that other studios had passed on. As time went on, the rights to many of these characters reverted back to Marvel. One significant return was Daredevil, the famous vigilante. Marvel partnered with Netflix to create a three-season Daredevil series, which eventually paved the way for the character to play a larger role in the broader MCU.

Even though Daredevil has appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for three seasons on other streaming services, and even had a crossover event, his costumes haven’t quite felt right to fans. While the live-action suits have generally been well-received, they’ve lacked a crucial element present in the comic books for over sixty years. Now, a sneak peek at Season 2 of the Disney+ series, *Daredevil: Born Again*, reveals a new costume for the hero – and it’s a change fans have been waiting for.

Daredevil’s Costume Finally Gets One of Its Biggest Trademarks

A recent preview of the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series shows Matt Murdock will finally have the iconic “DD” logo on his chest – something fans have been waiting for in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has worn several different costumes, including black, red, and even a throwback yellow and brown suit, none of them featured the classic logo that’s been a staple of Daredevil’s look since the comic book issue #5 in 1964.

The head of Marvel TV has hinted at exciting upcoming projects, including a behind-the-scenes look at ‘Wonder Man,’ a preview of the second season of ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ and details about the upcoming season of ‘X-Men ’97’ featuring Apocalypse, all to be discussed at their New York Comic Con panel.

Interestingly, the missing “DD” logo on the costume isn’t unique to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Daredevil hasn’t had many live-action appearances, most of them haven’t included the logo. His very first live-action look in *The Trial of the Incredible Hulk* was based on the all-black “Man Without Fear” design from Frank Miller’s comics, and it didn’t have a logo either.

After a ten-year gap following the original live-action portrayal, Daredevil returned to screens in 2003 with Ben Affleck taking on the role. Interestingly, Affleck’s costume *did* feature the Daredevil logo, though it was much smaller and positioned to the side instead of being prominently centered. In contrast, Charlie Cox, who has played Daredevil in numerous TV shows and guest appearances within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, never had the logo on his costume – a surprising detail given his extensive appearances.

Fans will be happy to hear that Marvel seems to be getting back on track with its *Born Again* series, even though it took a few attempts. Charlie Cox has hinted that the second season might feature several different Daredevil costumes. Hopefully, these costumes will have a consistent look, as even small details can make a big difference.
