It’s time to prepare for the most anticipated masquerade ball of the season.
Netflix has announced that season four of *Bridgerton* will be released in two parts in 2026. The first set of episodes will be available starting January 29th, and the remaining episodes will arrive on February 26th.
Alongside the announcement of the premiere date, viewers got a first look at the new season. It centers around Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), the intriguing woman he meets at his mother’s masquerade ball.
The sneak peek shows Benedict, dressed in black with a mask covering his eyes, descending a spiral staircase. Simultaneously, Sophie, in a silver gown, long white gloves, and a sparkling silver mask, walks up the same stairs.
The couple slowed as they walked past each other, their hands briefly touching. The scene then shifted to Benedict and Sophie mingling with guests in the ballroom. The final image showed Sophie’s glove lying on the floor.
As a devoted reader of Lady Whistledown, I always feel like she truly *gets* life. She recently wrote that every season brings its joys and sorrows, and it made me think. She then posed the perfect question: do we meet those challenges head-on? And, as she always does, she promises to keep watching and writing about it all – leaving us to wonder what will happen next, but trusting she’ll tell the story beautifully.
The new poster for this season shows Sophie in her masked ball gown, while Benedict looks at her without a mask.
Fans have a lot to look forward to in the next season of the show, featuring stars Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton), and Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton). Showrunner Jess Brownell has hinted that we’ll see a different side of Benedict this season, which is inspired by Julia Quinn’s third book in the *Bridgerton* series, *An Offer From a Gentleman*.
I’ve been a huge fan of Benedict from the start, and so many of us are really connected to his journey. It’s been amazing to watch the writers challenge him and push him outside of his comfort zone. Honestly, I think Sophie is the key to that – she’s such a vibrant character, and it’s been so fun seeing how she shakes things up for him!
I’ve been following Sophie’s story, and while it definitely *feels* like a modern take on Cinderella, Jess really pointed out something important – Sophie isn’t waiting for anyone to rescue her! She’s definitely not a helpless character; she’s strong and takes charge of her own life.
The showrunner explained that she’s a strategic thinker, always planning several steps in advance. She’s going to completely surprise Benedict with her actions.
And as Luke explained, he is thrilled about the chance to play out this dynamic love story.
Season four really stands out because of its contrast between classic fairytale romance and the harsh realities of the world it’s set in,” explained the 37-year-old when production began last year, according to Netflix’s Tudum.
He explained that both the romantic ideal and the practical realities of a relationship are true. Real, lasting love, he said, exists when you can balance both of those things.
