A new horror game on Steam is getting rave reviews for its classic, early *Resident Evilstyle graphics and gameplay. It’s also been officially verified to work perfectly on the Steam Deck, meaning it runs smoothly without any adjustments. Best of all, it’s available for just $11.99, making it an affordable option while you wait for bigger titles.
The new game, *House of Necrosis*, blends turn-based strategy with RPG elements, all wrapped in a visual style reminiscent of classic PlayStation 1 horror games. Inspired by 3D survival horror titles from the 1990s, it’s the first release from developer and publisher Warkus, and it’s been very well received. As of late, it’s earned 246 user reviews, with an impressive 96% of players giving it a positive rating.
About the Game
House of Necrosis uses classic techniques like pre-rendered backgrounds and ‘tank controls,’ but combines them with turn-based dungeon exploration. This sets it apart from other games with a similar look and feel. The game challenges you to survive the ever-changing horrors within a haunted mansion.
One player described House of Necrosis as perfectly scratching their itch for a classic dungeon crawler, but with a unique twist – it combines that feeling with the tension and atmosphere of games like Resident Evil and the thrills of a survivor horror experience. They especially loved the music, gameplay, enemy design, and how the game managed to be frustrating, fun, and scary all at once, bringing back a lot of fond memories.
Okay, I just read another review and it’s all about *Resident Evil* Mystery Dungeon. Apparently, it’s fantastic! They said it really captures the look and feel of *Resident Evil*, and the gameplay is seriously addictive – you just keep wanting to play more and more.
Halloween’s almost here, which is awesome, but it’s a bit disappointing that there aren’t a ton of new horror games coming out in October 2025. I was really hoping for something big, but honestly, the main horror release this month, *Little Nightmares III*, isn’t hitting the mark. So, if you’re like me and need a spooky game to play for Halloween, this new release that feels a bit like the classics might be just what you’re looking for.
