The fantasy role-playing game *Of Ash and Steel* is coming to PC on November 6th, available through Steam and GOG. You can try a demo right now as part of the Steam Next Fest in October 2025.
Here is an overview of the game, via tinyBuild:
Step into the shoes of Tristian, a mapmaker unexpectedly turned adventurer, and embark on a quest to save the island of Grayshaft. Unlike typical games, you won’t have quest markers guiding your way – instead, you’ll need to explore carefully, make discoveries, and choose your own path to solve the island’s problems.
Get a sneak peek at the upcoming game *Of Ash and Steel* with its new demo, available now on Steam Next Fest! Explore the dangerous world of Grayshaft, experience the main story, and complete side quests as you meet new characters and discover exciting locations. You can also try out different skills and professions to build your character’s story, starting as a simple mapmaker and potentially becoming a legendary hero.
The Steam Next Fest demo lets experienced players try out Arena Master Mode in *Of Ash and Steel*. This mode features quick battles where you can earn rewards to improve your gear and skills, and ultimately become the top gladiator in Grayshaft.
I’m really getting into *Of Ash and Steel*! It’s all about surviving in a pretty harsh world, so I’ve been exploring everywhere, trying to get better at fighting, and making friends with people I meet. The combat system is cool – you can train with all sorts of weapons and fighting styles to unlock some seriously powerful moves. I’ve been experimenting with different stuff. Big, slow axes do massive damage, which is great for clearing out groups of enemies. Then there’s the rapier – it’s super fast and does bleeding damage if you can keep hitting them. Or, I can go with a mace for a balance between power and speed. It’s all about finding what works best for my playstyle!
In *Of Ash and Steel*, you won’t find quests that hold your hand! The game encourages you to explore and rewards your curiosity with valuable discoveries. You can craft powerful armor, weapons, potions, and food to help you become a hero. Plus, the gear you craft often requires fewer skills than items you find, letting you use better tools sooner in the game.
