2024 has been a fantastic year for DC Comics, culminating in the exciting new series, *DC K.O.* The villain Darkseid has managed to infiltrate the entire universe, and the only way to stop him is for heroes to compete for control of a powerful energy source he’s hidden at the Earth’s core. This has led to a tournament where both heroes and villains are battling it out, promising plenty of action for fans. Excitement was already high for *DC K.O.*, letting fans see their favorite DC characters clash in tournament fights. But DC recently surprised everyone at New York Comic Con by announcing that characters from other universes will also be joining the competition.
The publisher announced that Vampirella, Sub-Zero, Homelander, Red Sonja, Annabelle (from *The Conjuring*), and Samantha Strong (from *Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees*) will all be part of an upcoming project. This news has fans very excited, and they’re speculating about which other comic characters might join them. Having these eight characters from different comics appear in *DC K.O.* would be fantastic.
8) Rubin Bakshi from Rare Flavours
The world of independent comics is brimming with fantastic stories and memorable characters, and *Rare Flavours*, by Ram V and Filipe Andrade, is a standout from recent years. It introduces readers to Rubin Bakshi, a rakshasa—a demon from Indian folklore—who has a deep love for both people and food, often experiencing them together. Rubin dreams of becoming the next Anthony Bourdain, and we see him taking a documentarian named Mo on a culinary journey across India. Though he’s not a fighter by nature, Rubin is a demon and capable of immense power when necessary. Given Ram V’s impressive work with DC Comics, it would be exciting to see Rubin appear in *DC K.O.*, with a goal of transforming the world into a place where food is celebrated as an art form.
7) Etienne from The Power Fantasy
I’m completely captivated by *The Power Fantasy* – Kieron Gillen and Caspar Wijngaard have created something truly special! It’s a fantastic comic about the sudden emergence of superpowers worldwide and the consequences that follow. Honestly, it feels a lot like a fresh take on the X-Men, with some incredibly compelling characters. One who really stands out is Etienne. He’s an immensely powerful telepath – think Professor X, but in *The Power Fantasy* universe. What’s fascinating is that he doesn’t rely on brute force; he’s a master manipulator, using his abilities to control others and further a secret agenda. I truly believe he’d be a phenomenal addition to *DC K.O.* – they’re a little short on strong telepaths who could even challenge him, and he’d bring such a unique and compelling dynamic to their story. He’s just that good!
6) The Goon
I’m a huge fan of The Goon, created by Eric Powell. What I love about him is that he’s straightforward – he just shows up, fights, and leaves! He’s a classic tough guy, and honestly, he’d be *perfect* for DC K.O. He’s just a regular guy who battles monsters and villains – a total goon, in the best way. Seeing him in DC K.O. would be so much fun! I can already picture him going toe-to-toe with someone like Superman or the Flash, or even Giganta. He’d probably have his hands full, but it would be amazing to watch him try! Plus, Powell’s worked with DC before, so it would be a really cool surprise for all of us Goon fans.
5) Radiant Black
Radiant Black, created by Kyle Higgins, is a standout hero from one of the most exciting new superhero universes of the 21st century. Originally Nathan Burnett (later his friend Marshall, chosen by fans, took on the role), Radiant Black gains incredible strength, speed, and the ability to manipulate gravity after discovering a tiny black hole. He’d be a fantastic addition to *DC K.O.* While he might not be as seasoned as some other characters, his unusual powers and background would make him a strong and interesting fighter.
4) Hellboy
As a huge fan, I truly believe Hellboy is one of the best horror comic characters ever created. He’s this incredible being – basically summoned during World War II by Rasputin – but thankfully, Professor Bruttenholm raised him to fight the things that go bump in the night. He’s become the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense’s top monster hunter, taking down some seriously powerful villains. Honestly, I think he’d be *perfect* in DC K.O.! Seeing him go up against DC’s heroes and villains in the Multiverse would be an absolute dream. Hellboy’s always been a massively popular indie comic, and it’s time he got the crossover he deserves!
3) Black Hammer
The comic *Black Hammer* built a whole world of heroes. The story starts after these heroes beat the biggest villain in their universe, with Black Hammer giving his life to ensure their victory. They all mysteriously wake up in a new world, trying to understand what happened. At the same time, Black Hammer’s daughter, Lucy Weber, is determined to find her father and his teammates. She travels to this new world, discovers her father’s hammer, and takes on the mantle of the new Black Hammer. Lucy is incredibly strong, can’t be harmed, and can fly, making her hammer a powerful weapon. She’s often compared to a blend of Thor and Supergirl, and although she’s still learning, she’s quickly becoming a fantastic hero. Since one of the creators, Jeff Lemire, now works for DC Comics, fans are hoping Lucy might compete in the *DC K.O.* tournament.
2) Spawn
Spawn is a landmark independent comic book character. Created by Todd McFarlane, he played a huge role in launching Image Comics and building a successful franchise. The story centers on Al Simmons, a soldier killed and reborn as a Hellspawn, who returns to Earth to reconnect with his wife and finds himself fighting a constant battle against both supernatural creatures and powerful foes. Over the past three decades, Spawn has evolved significantly, but he remains a truly powerful figure. Many fans would be thrilled to see him appear in *DC K.O.*, and McFarlane has a good working relationship with DC, making it a real possibility. His inclusion would be a surprising and exciting addition to the series.
1) Invincible
Invincible has quickly become a fan-favorite superhero, known for his incredible strength, near-invulnerability, and ability to fly. He gained his powers through his Viltrumite heritage and has faced huge challenges, including battles with his father, Omni-Man, other supervillains, and even a full-scale Viltrumite invasion. Many fans are eager to see Invincible join the world of *DC K.O.* and go head-to-head with iconic heroes and villains like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Lex Luthor. With a potential Superman vs. Homelander matchup already in the works, a fight between Superman and Invincible would be a massive draw. Considering Invincible has previously crossed over with Marvel characters, a similar collaboration with DC Comics would be incredibly exciting.
