Shun Numa’s manga *Super Psychic Policeman Chojo*, which ran in *Weekly Shonen Jump*, concluded in June 2025 after 69 chapters. This suggests the publisher decided to end the series, as *Shonen Jump* regularly introduces many new manga each year and often cancels those that don’t gain enough popularity. *Shonen Jump* typically doesn’t formally announce cancellations; instead, a series ending around 50-60 chapters with a sudden conclusion usually indicates it has been dropped. While *Super Psychic Policeman Chojo*, a comedy manga, received varied feedback, many readers felt it had a lot of promise.
Despite being canceled recently, the manga actually placed third in the Next Manga Awards in September. Now that Arvo Animation has announced an anime adaptation, many readers are excited and expect the series to become more popular. The anime is planned for release in 2026, though a specific date hasn’t been announced yet. So far, the studio has only shared a key visual, and fans are eagerly waiting for a trailer. The manga’s creator, Shun Numa, expressed his enthusiasm for the adaptation after the first images were revealed.
Super Psychic Policeman Chojo Creator Shares Thoughts Following Anime’s First Look
The popular X account @WSJ_manga recently shared the original Japanese message from the author of *Choujun! Choujou-senpai*. The author expressed excitement about the upcoming anime adaptation and said the opportunity to revisit the story is thanks to the dedicated support of their readers, even though the manga has finished its run.
The author added, “I’m truly amazed by how much enthusiasm everyone has poured into this project – it’s like it’s been reborn! I’m so grateful to be sharing in this success with all of you, and I hope you’ll continue to enjoy and support *Choujun! Choujou-senpai* when it airs next year!”
The series, titled *Choujun! Choujou-senpai* in Japanese, centers around Meguru Chojo, a police officer with psychic abilities. It’s set in a world where psychics use powers like telepathy and psychometry to solve crimes and often work for agencies like the FBI or CIA. Those with less developed abilities typically become police officers. The story takes place at the West Shinjuku Police Station, a small station in Tokyo’s Kabukicho entertainment district, where officers handle local, smaller incidents.
Meguru has the unusual ability to read minds, which often makes people around him uneasy. Together with his new partner, Nao Ippongi, he deals with all sorts of strange problems while protecting the city’s residents. You can read the manga on the Manga Plus app, and the collected volumes are available digitally and in print.
