One Piece Answers a Huge Mystery Years After One Pirate Already Figured It Out

Please be aware that this article contains spoilers from the One Piece manga! It’s been weeks since the One Piece manga began its current storyline focusing on the history of Elbaf. Originally, this arc was meant to reveal who killed King Harald in Aurust Castle over 14 years ago. However, the story unexpectedly connected Harald’s path to becoming a legend in Elbaf to Rocks D. Xebec and the events at God Valley. For years, the God Valley Incident has been a mystery, and while Kuma’s backstory offered some insight, many questions remained. The World Government always claimed Xebec started the conflict, but the reality is much more complex.

After getting to know the character better, it’s clear he wasn’t the ruthless villain the Government portrayed. In fact, Xebec seems to have been a target all along, caught in a complex trap designed to eliminate him. He was a constant threat to the World Government, and they ultimately found a way to remove him. The ongoing flashback continues to reveal shocking truths about that terrible day, information that was previously hidden. During the turmoil at God Valley, *One Piece* reveals a surprising detail about Imu that only Xebec discovered.

One Piece’s Elbaf Arc Reveals That Imu Is the World Itself

In the newest chapter of *One Piece*, chapter 1162, Imu appears on the island during a period of intense conflict. With the Rocks Pirates, Roger Pirates, the Marines, and enslaved people all pursuing their own objectives, the situation quickly became chaotic. Imu’s existence is largely unknown, even within the Marines, which is why even Garp was surprised to see them. As everyone tried to understand who this mysterious figure was, Xebec declared that they represented the very “World” itself.

Xebec seemed sure of himself when questioned in God Valley, possibly because he’d already encountered the world’s hidden leader in the Flower Room. It’s interesting that the word “World” appears often in *One Piece*, but its meaning changes each time. For instance, Doflamingo mentioned the world’s unchanging nature after his arrest, which could be a reference to Imu, who appears to be immortal.

During the Egghead Island arc, two members of Blackbeard’s crew, Van Augur and Catarina Devon, informed Saturn that Teach’s ultimate aim is to conquer the entire world, hinting that his true target has always been Imu. Despite being introduced years ago, Imu’s face remains a mystery. Many fans believe Imu is the series’ final villain and represents an opponent unlike any Luffy has encountered so far.

One Piece’s Elbaf Arc Is Finally Shedding More Light on Imu

The Elbaf Arc is the second part of the final storyline in *One Piece*, and it’s finally starting to reveal important details about the series’ main villain. We already know Imu possesses incredibly powerful and mysterious abilities – they were able to kill Saint Jaygarcia Saturn from within Pangea Castle. For decades, the Five Elders have been under Imu’s control, and they quickly removed Saturn when he failed. The arc also showed that Imu can control Gunko’s mind, suggesting other Holy Knights may be similarly brainwashed.

During the Elbaf Arc, Imu used Gunko’s body to transform several Giants, like Dorry and Brogy, into massive, destructive creatures. While Giants deeply cherish their homeland, Imu’s control stripped them of their identities, causing them to rampage across the island. It’s become clear that Imu might not even be human, but a different, terrifyingly evil being.

This powerful being can possess people, allowing it to communicate with others as if it were them. Imu hasn’t left Pangea Castle for over 800 years, suggesting they might be intentionally isolated. It’s unclear whether Imu chose to stay hidden. Even during a major historical event, the God Valley Incident, Imu didn’t appear in person, but controlled Saturn’s body instead. The ongoing story promises to reveal more about Imu’s abilities and finally explain the circumstances surrounding Xebec’s death.
