After the incredible achievement of “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners”, CD Projekt RED and Studio Trigger are planning a second installment – “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2“. Kai Ikarashi, who previously contributed to the original series, makes his directorial debut for this sequel. The upcoming storyline is self-contained, featuring ten episodes set to stream on Netflix. Take a look at the teaser trailer below.
According to the limited clues provided, it seems we’re dealing with a fresh set of characters, one being a child armed with a camera. At Anime Expo 2025, Bartosz Sztybor, the showrunner, producer, and writer, revealed that while David’s saga may have concluded, there are still many mysteries to unravel within Night City.
Having TRIGGER join us on this journey further fuels our excitement to present a gritty, authentic tale of redemption and revenge, different from anything we’ve created before. Notable contributors include Kanno Ichigo, known for his work on ‘Edgerunners’ and ‘Promare’, serving as the lead character designer, and Masahiko Otsuka, who will adapt the screenplay based on his previous works like ‘Promare’ and ‘Gurren Lagann’.
As Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has just begun production, there’s no set premiere date yet, so keep an eye out for further announcements. The initial season premiered in 2022 and garnered significant acclaim, fueling curiosity about Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt RED also plans to roll out a patch featuring some cross-over content, such as David’s outfit.
At present, the developer is engaged in creating a follow-up, known as ‘Project Orion’. Though there’s no set launch date yet, Mike Pondsmith – the mastermind behind Cyberpunk – has hinted that this sequel will introduce a fresh urban landscape and the reappearance of Night City.
