Breaking Bad Actor Reveals His First Video Game Performance on Dispatch Was Both “Challenging and Rewarding”

If you enjoy story-driven games like those made by Telltale, or you’re a fan of the Invincible comic, you’ll likely enjoy Dispatch.

In this new game from AdHoc Studio, you’ll lead a team of quirky heroes responding to emergencies around the city. Expect plenty of drama, political intrigue, and complicated relationships along the way.

Okay, so get this – the main character is voiced by Aaron Paul! You know, the guy from Breaking Bad and BoJack Horseman? It’s seriously awesome having him in the game.

This may be unexpected, considering this is Paul’s debut appearance in a video game.

Paul explained in an interview that he’s always dreamed of working on a game. He mentioned having considered other opportunities before, but nothing had ever felt quite right. He’s been fortunate in the animation industry and wanted to be selective about his next project, so he didn’t want to rush into anything.

In a GameInformer interview, AdHoc Studio’s creative director, Nick Herman, expressed surprise that Paul agreed to participate. Herman explained that Paul was their first choice for the role, and he quickly accepted when contacted by casting director Linda Lamontagne.

A Look at Paul’s Role and His Experience During the Production

I’m a huge fan of Paul, and I was really excited to hear he was playing Robert Robertson, also known as Mecha Man! It’s a bummer to hear an accident is keeping him from fully getting into the role with the suit and the character, but I’m still curious to see what he does as a dispatcher instead. It’ll be a totally different challenge for him, and I’m sure he’ll nail it!

The game centers around dispatching a team of heroes to handle crises and complete heroic tasks.

Paul really praised the game’s writing, saying it struck a great balance between humor and emotionally powerful moments. He described it as both funny and deeply moving.

He explained that the biggest difference between working on his first video game and his typical TV work is the amount of time it takes. For example, recording all the episodes of BoJack Horseman only took a few months, and then the show would be released a few months later.

In Dispatch, however, it took them two years to record the whole thing.

Paul hasn’t finished the entire game, but he did get to try out the public demo and see how it plays.

You know, it’s funny how things work when you’re making music. Once a track is finished and laid out in the studio, I try not to dwell on it too much – kind of put it out of my head. Then, every now and then, you get a really cool surprise when you revisit it and suddenly *get* something you didn’t notice before. It’s like a little ‘aha!’ moment, and it’s awesome.

The game is set to release on October 22, 2025, but a public demo is now available on Steam.
