Spider-Man is a truly iconic superhero, and it’s easy to see why. People connect with him because he’s relatable, incredibly determined to do what’s right, and has a fantastic costume. But a major part of his appeal is definitely his amazing powers – watching him swing through the city and climb walls is always exciting. These powers are so popular that many other Spider-Man characters have similar abilities. Though, sometimes those powers are slightly different, as seen with Miles Morales, another Spider-Man.
Miles and Peter are both Spider-Man, so it’s not surprising they have similar powers. But surprisingly, there are quite a few key differences in what they can do. We’re going to break down the five biggest ability differences between them and explain why they matter. Let’s dive in and talk Spider-Man!
5) Bio-Electricity
The biggest difference between Miles Morales and Peter Parker’s powers is Miles’s ability to create and control bio-electricity, which he calls Venom. This energy lets him release powerful blasts, supercharge his attacks, and even create objects from it. He can shape the Venom into things like blades or web-like strands. This bio-electricity is one of Miles’s most useful and special abilities, and it’s gotten him out of trouble many times. It seems to be constantly improving, so it’s possible he’ll eventually be able to control electricity fully.
4) Invisibility
Miles Morales has a unique ability that Peter Parker doesn’t: he can subtly control light around him, allowing him to turn invisible and blend into his surroundings. Combined with his already impressive agility and climbing skills, this makes him incredibly stealthy and hard to detect. While Peter is also a capable sneak, Miles’ ability to actually disappear into his environment takes his stealth to a completely different level.
3) Radar Sense
Both Peter and Miles have Spider-Sense, which warns them of danger, but Miles’s power has grown beyond that. After his Spider-Sense became unreliable due to stress, Miles learned to control it, turning it into a type of radar. Now, he can actually *see* the shapes of threats around him – for example, he might see the skeletons of armed enemies in the next room. Currently, using this ability requires intense concentration, and while Miles is the only Spider-Person who can do it, Peter might be able to learn it as well. If he does, the two Spider-Men could essentially mimic Daredevil’s heightened senses.
2) Radioactivity
One key difference between Peter Parker and Miles Morales is that Peter’s spider bite came from a *radioactive* spider. Miles, however, was bitten by a spider enhanced with the Oz formula, which wasn’t radioactive. While it might seem like a drawback, Peter’s radioactivity has actually saved him on multiple occasions. It gives him a much higher resistance to radiation and makes him dangerous to creatures like Morlun, who are similar to vampires from other dimensions. For example, Peter was able to survive a powerful radiation blast from the U-Foes in *The Amazing Spider-Man* #75 (2018) thanks to this ability.
1) Immortality
Okay, this one’s a bit wild, but hear me out – Miles might actually be immortal! We all remember Peter Parker dying in the original Ultimate Universe, right? But a lot of people don’t realize he came back in *Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man* #1, alongside Norman Osborn. Apparently, the Oz formula that gave them powers also had this crazy side effect of bringing people back to life! It resurrected both Peter and Norman pretty quickly after they died. The weird thing is, Harry Osborn *didn’t* come back, even though he was exposed to the formula too. So, we won’t really know for sure if Miles is immortal until… well, until he dies. But honestly, there’s a really good chance it’s true, and that’s pretty mind-blowing!
So, those are the five main ways Peter and Miles’s powers differ. While Miles has a much wider range of abilities, Peter is still incredibly impressive – think of it like choosing between a simple cheese pizza and a loaded supreme; both can be fantastic! Which Spider-Man’s powers do you like better?
