Jen Affleck dedicated her week to feeling better.
Merrill Osmond, from the show *Secret Lives of Mormon Wives*, performed on the October 14th “Dedication Night” episode of *Dancing With the Stars* despite being sick all week. He danced with his professional partner, Jan Ravnik.
Jen and Jan shared a Viennese Waltz, dancing to Lauren Daigle’s song “Rescue.” They dedicated the dance to Jen’s mother, Maria, and to her children with husband Zac Affleck: Nora, 3, Lucas, 2, and baby Penelope, who is 3 months old.
Jen spoke about a difficult year battling depression during and after her pregnancy, something many mothers can relate to. She explained that she didn’t fully understand the challenges her own mother faced until she became a parent herself, and dedicated the dance to all mothers.
Carrie Ann Inaba gave the couple a score of eight, while guest judge Kym Johnson, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough each awarded them a seven.
Oh my gosh, did you *hear* what Carrie Ann said?! She said it was the most passionate dance they’ve *ever* done! And she totally gets it – she sees where their strength comes from! She said there was something…profound. I KNEW it! I just *knew* they were connecting on a whole other level, and Carrie Ann saw it too! It was magical, absolutely magical!
Jen delivered a fantastic performance, and no one in the audience could tell she’d been feeling unwell all week. Unfortunately, the day before her performance, Zac shared details about her health on TikTok.
Zac shared on TikTok on October 13th that his sister has been very ill all week. He explained she’s been too sick to practice and has spent most of her time in bed.

He shared that she had been doing everything she could to rest up and get back into dancing shape.
Zac explained that Jen’s mom unexpectedly came to town this week, cooking for her and providing support. He added that Jen wouldn’t normally ask for help, but she really appreciates the assistance and any prayers she can receive.

Jen wasn’t the only one feeling unwell before the show. Emma Slater shared on TikTok on October 13th that her partner, Andy Richter, had also been sick and resting in bed all week.
She said the comedian was recovering and really wanted to put on a great show, despite not feeling his best.
