Derek Hough May Have Revealed Sex of First Baby With Hayley Erbert

Derek Hough may have tangoed his way into a big reveal. 

During the October 14th episode of *Dancing With the Stars*, judge Derek Hough seemingly revealed he and his wife, Hayley Ebert, are expecting a baby boy.

During the show, celebrity contestant Jordan Chiles danced a Viennese Waltz with her father, Timothy Chiles. The dance was choreographed by her professional partner, Ezra Sosa, and set to John Mayer’s song “Daughters.” After their touching performance, judge Derek Hough revealed he was moved to tears thinking about having a similar experience with his own future child, as he and Hayley are expecting their first baby in July.

During the show’s judging, Derek said watching the couple dance made him look forward to having a special moment with his own child. He started to say ‘daughter’ but stopped himself and simply said ‘child’ instead.

Oh my gosh, it was just… breathtaking! He said it felt so tender and sweet, not complicated at all. You could just *feel* the love and care in that moment, and honestly, I’m already hoping they hold onto that memory forever. It was perfect!

Derek has mentioned wanting to keep the gender of his baby a secret. He joked during a September appearance on *Live With Kelly and Mark* that “there aren’t many surprises left in life!”

He added, “We’re going to keep that one to ourselves.”

Derek has also shared updates about Hayley’s pregnancy, giving fans a glimpse into this new phase of their lives.

In fact, last month, the 40-year-old showed off his wife’s growing baby bump in a touching video. 

Derek shared adorable footage of Hayley, his wife, showing off her baby bump in some stylish midi dresses. He captioned the post on Instagram, “That’s my baby’s,” after marrying Hayley in 2023 following eight years together.

Also, Hayley shared what the couple was feeling when they learned they were expecting a baby.

The new parents shared a sonogram on Instagram in July, writing that they were amazed something so life-changing could be so tiny. The 31-year-old expressed their disbelief and joy at the news.

Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert first met in 2014 while performing together on a tour with Derek and his sister, Julianne. A producer from *Dancing With the Stars* was impressed with Hayley and invited her to audition for the show’s dance ensemble, which she joined the following year, as reported by the *Hutchinson News*. Hayley and Derek began dating in 2015.

They started attending events together, including the premiere of the Netflix documentary *I Am Not Your Guru*, featuring Tony Robbins, in 2016.
