Emmerdale reveals outcome of Cain Dingle’s hunt for John Sugden in ITVX episode

Please be aware that the following information contains spoilers for the latest episode of Emmerdale, which aired today, October 15th, 2025, and is now available to stream on ITVX.

On Wednesday, October 15th’s episode of Emmerdale, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) will share what he discovered while looking for John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).

Cain was arrested in Dover after spending weeks in France searching for the man who killed his son, Nate Carter.

Moira (Natalie J Robb), his wife, drove him home, and on the way back to Butler’s Farm, she asked him what had happened.

At first, Cain avoids the question, but he finally says he couldn’t find John, though it’s hard to believe him.

However, we don’t think Emmerdale will resolve this villain’s storyline without showing it happen on screen.

With Emmerdale currently filming a special crossover episode with Coronation Street, and a ‘Wanted’ poster featuring John’s face appearing in Weatherfield, we believe John’s storyline will likely end during this combined event, which fans are calling ‘Corriedale’.

Returning to the current storyline, Cain chose to cope with the anniversary of his father Zak’s death by drinking, and as a result, didn’t attend the graveside with his siblings, Sam and Belle.

After Cain makes an error that deeply affects his son, Kyle (played by Huey Quinn), the story leaves us wondering how much further Cain will decline as he spirals out of control.

As another year passes, Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle take a moment to fondly remember Aaron’s sister, Liv, who is no longer with them.

Robert is building a complicated web of lies, and it’s starting to unravel as he avoids calls from his secretly married husband, Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill).

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1. Stream on ITVX.
