Dovetail, the team behind Train Sim World, has just revealed Metro Rivals: New York, a new game inspired by the fast-paced, arcade-style gameplay of Crazy Taxi and Need for Speed. They seem to have created it with Metro readers in mind!
If you don’t enjoy the studio’s core train operation game – known for its realistic controls and adherence to railway rules – this new game, built with Unreal Engine 5, offers a more arcade-like racing experience. You’ll be able to compete in train races by yourself or with others.

The new game takes place in a futuristic New York City where celebrities, called Track Titans, rule the subway system. Players will compete to take control of the entire rail network and join their ranks.
The game challenges you to work hard and climb the ranks: take on jobs, earn money, and gain followers to build your reputation. As you become more respected, you’ll be able to challenge the powerful Titans for control of their territory. To win, you’ll need to be smarter, faster, and better than them all – only then can you become the ultimate ruler of the underground world.
The game will feature a complete single-player story mode, alongside multiplayer for up to four players. It’s built using Unreal Engine 5 with all of Lumen and Nanite’s features, meaning it will have stunning visuals.
Dovetail is building on its experience with Train Sim World to create something new for a wider range of players. We’re really excited about this announcement – it’s definitely a highlight of the year for us, and we’re eagerly awaiting its release in 2026.
I find it really funny that we’re getting *two* arcade-style train games for the PS5 now – this one and Denshattack! It’s just wild to think there’s enough interest for two of them!
