Next week sees the release of Plants vs Zombies Replanted on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, which is exciting news for fans! Many consider it to be one of the best tower defense games of all time.
Rumors are starting to surface about the quality of the game, with some claiming it’s built on an outdated version of Windows Phone code transferred into the Unity game engine.
Even if the core gameplay was solid, reports from Reddit suggest the game has problems with bugs and poor image quality, based on early preview footage.
It’s currently unclear exactly which version of the game was leaked, or if it represents the final product. A patch released on the first day might address any issues.
So, I just heard something interesting – apparently the original artist for the game isn’t too happy with some of the older art they put back in for this new release. It’s kinda weird to hear that, but I guess it’s good they’re speaking up about it.
Okay, so I was reading Twitter, and Rich Werner – who worked on Plants vs Zombies – just dropped a bomb! He said all those ‘early concept sketches’ floating around online are totally fake. Apparently, the Disco Zombie design is part of the issue because they actually had to get approval from Michael Jackson’s estate to change it! He even redesigned it himself, like, in a single afternoon. He’s adamant there’s no way those sketches are legitimate early concepts – it all happened much later in the process.
We believe the image likely comes from Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, the multiplayer game in the series. If so, this suggests the product’s overall quality might be poor.
Let’s see how the product is received after its official release on October 23rd before getting too excited. It might not be as successful as we hoped, so you might want to wait before pre-ordering.
