Line of Duty star’s “excellent” mystery drama has just dropped on Netflix

A mystery drama led by Adrian Dunbar, is now available to stream in full on Netflix.

Adrian Dunbar, best known for his role as Superintendent Ted Hastings in Line of Duty (2012-2021), plays the character of Jim in this series.

After her mother dies in what seems like an accident, Cathleen Hogan, known as ‘Cat,’ returns to her Irish hometown and starts to wonder if her father was involved.

The show *Blood* first appeared on Channel 5 in 2018, with a second season airing in 2020. Now, all 12 episodes are available to watch on Netflix.

The mystery drama has been well-received by both critics and audiences, currently holding a user rating of 7.1/10 on IMDb based on over 3,200 reviews.

One viewer praised the drama as captivating and well-acted, highlighting its surprising conclusion. They particularly commended the performances of Adrian Dunbar and Carolina Main, a promising new talent, and noted the high quality of the script and filming.

This series had a really captivating storyline and fantastic performances, particularly from Carolina Main who was absolutely mesmerizing! It’s the best show I’ve seen in a long time, and I can’t wait to see more work from Sophie Petzal. Great job, Channel 5!

Gráinne Keenan and Diarmuid Noyes also star as Fiona and Michael, Jim’s other two children.

She described it as a wonderful surprise, explaining that while they always had faith in the project, it felt like a long shot, and its success was particularly rewarding because of that.

She explained that the show was small, airing on an Irish channel, and Channel 5 wasn’t typically known for producing dramas. It easily could have gone unnoticed, so its success – both in viewership numbers and positive feedback – was a genuinely delightful surprise.

She explained that there’s a bit more pressure this time around. It’s often difficult to follow up a successful first season, particularly when the original story felt complete and didn’t need a sequel.

We really wanted to avoid repeating ourselves or revisiting old storylines, so we’re planning to explore those characters further in about a year.

The new season builds on what came before, carrying forward elements from the first series, but it also presents a completely fresh mystery and storyline.
