After releasing the new, slimmer PS5, Sony is expected to launch the more powerful PS5 Pro (model number CFI-7121) in November. There were reports that the updated DualSense controller would have a removable battery, but tech reviewer Austin Evans recently tested a unit imported from Spain and confirmed that isn’t true.
The new DualSense controller, model CFI-ZCT2W (also known as the DualSense V3), has a few key differences. Most notably, the rear microphone has been removed. While the battery is the same size, it uses a different connector and part number. Some internal components, like the motors, are different as well, but the controller still works and performs the same as before.
The PS5 Pro is a bit lighter than the original PS5, which is a welcome change. Importantly, it maintains the same SSD storage capacity as the original, unlike the PS5 Slim.
The PlayStation 5 Pro currently costs $749.99 after a recent price increase in the US. Sony is reportedly developing the PlayStation 6, which is expected to launch in 2027. We’ll share more information about the PS6 as it becomes available.
