Mark Ruffalo’s Gritty HBO Thriller Is Officially A Huge Hit With Millions of Views (& You Can Binge It All Now)

Mark Ruffalo is famous for his work in the Marvel movies, as well as films like Spotlight and You Can Count on Me. Now, he’s receiving critical acclaim for a new HBO thriller that’s quickly become a huge success. The seven-episode crime drama, created by the maker of Mare of Easttown (Brad Ingelsby), launched in September and has already attracted millions of viewers. The entire series, starring Ruffalo, is currently available for streaming.

Ingelsby’s crime drama, Task, stars Mark Ruffalo as FBI Agent Tom Brandis. The show follows Brandis and his team as they investigate a series of violent robberies in Philadelphia, discovering the perpetrator is a seemingly ordinary family man. The first season, which consisted of seven episodes, concluded on October 19th with over 4 million U.S. viewers – a 32% increase from its debut in September, as reported by The Wrap. All seven episodes are currently available for streaming on HBO Max.

Task Is a Gripping New Crime Drama

Looking for a gripping new crime drama? Check out Task. It’s a thrilling cat-and-mouse game between an FBI agent and a criminal, but it’s much more than a typical crime story. The series delves into difficult moral questions and offers complex, in-depth looks at its characters, particularly how trauma affects them. Mark Ruffalo and Jared Pelphrey give outstanding, subtle performances, and their characters are the emotional heart of the show.

As a total TV fanatic, I’ve been following this new HBO series, and wow, it’s a smash! The premiere brought in 3.1 million viewers in just the first three days, putting it in the top five HBO debuts ever. And it hasn’t slowed down – that first episode has now reached over 10 million viewers, which is seriously impressive growth. Critics are loving it too – it’s “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with a 95% score from 78 reviews. Audiences seem pretty happy with it as well, giving it a 71% rating. As of October 20th, it’s still HBO’s most popular show on their global streaming chart, and honestly, I can see why!

Will There Be a Task Season 2?

Originally planned as a miniseries, Task has proven popular with both viewers and critics, leading to speculation about a potential second season. In an October interview with Esquire, creator Ingelsby suggested he would be interested in continuing the show.

He said he’s eager to share more stories about this place if readers continue to enjoy them, adding that he has plenty of ideas for future content. He really loves writing about it.

As of right now, a second season hasn’t been officially planned. You can watch the first season of Task on HBO Max.
