I’m so excited for the fifth and final season of Stranger Things to hit screens this year! While I’m expecting plenty of twists and turns, it seems like we won’t be seeing a certain beloved character return – and honestly, that’s probably for the best. The main crew – Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, Hopper, and Joyce – have all managed to survive so far, but the show hasn’t shied away from killing off characters we love. And from what I’ve heard, when someone dies in the Stranger Things world, they really stay gone. It’s a tough universe, but that makes the stakes feel so real!
In a recent interview with Empire, one of the creators of Stranger Things has definitively stated the fate of Joseph Quinn’s popular character, Eddie Munson. Despite fan hopes for a resurrection after his brave death in Season 4, the creator confirmed that Eddie is truly gone and won’t be returning.
It’s fun how Joe Quinn messes with fans by pretending to still be on ‘Stranger Things,’ but he’s definitely not coming back. He’s been incredibly busy filming other projects – he’s already finished five movies! There’s just no way he’d have time to return to the show. It’s sad, but his character is really gone.
Joseph Quinn’s career has taken off since appearing in Stranger Things, and he’s now landed parts in major projects like the Avengers movies and an upcoming film about The Beatles, directed by Sam Mendes. Despite the show’s creator, the Duffer brothers, insisting he won’t return, many Stranger Things fans are likely still hoping for a surprise appearance.
‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Will “Answer Most Questions and Resolve Every Arc”

Netflix
Now that it’s confirmed Eddie is truly gone, details about the fifth season of Stranger Things are starting to emerge. After the events of last season, Vecna is missing, and the group needs to find him while also evading the military, who have quarantined Hawkins to hide the portal he created to the Upside Down. Despite talk of potential spin-offs, creator Ross Duffer has assured fans that season five will provide answers to most questions and wrap up all storylines.
Okay, so even though Joseph Quinn’s character is gone, it’s awesome to hear so many of our favorites are coming back for the final season of Stranger Things! We’re talking Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown – the whole gang, really, including Gaten, Caleb, Noah, Sadie, Natalia, Charlie, Joe, Maya, Priah, Brett, Cara, and even Jamie Campbell Bower. And get this – Linda Hamilton, of all people, from The Terminator, is joining as the new villain, Dr. Kay! Seriously, I can’t wait.
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things will be released on Netflix in three volumes. The first volume, with four episodes, will premiere on November 26, 2025. The second volume, containing three episodes, will arrive on December 25, and the concluding episodes will be released on December 31.
