According to Variety, Ryan Coogler is reviving the show as a personal project for his mother, who is a dedicated X-Files fan and was among the first to read his plans for the reboot. He shared this information with the audience at a Cinespia screening of Sinners.

It’s currently unclear if the reboot will feature new actors in those roles or follow a path that continues the original story with familiar faces. Director Ryan Coogler was recently asked about rumors that Danielle Deadwyler might be involved, but he remained tight-lipped, simply saying he couldn’t confirm or deny anything.
