Originally appearing as a short story in Wizard Magazine, Ekos has evolved into a complete world thanks to a collaboration between Aspen Comics and David Maisel, a founder of Marvel Studios. Following a successful Kickstarter for the first volume, the creators Michael Turner and Geoff Johns are now launching Vol. 2 after exceeding their funding goal. We’re excited to share a sneak peek at some of the beautiful artwork from the upcoming Ekos Vol. 2.
The Kickstarter for the second volume of Ekos launched today and quickly exceeded its $50,000 goal, raising over $70,000 so far. Fans are especially excited about the expanded storyline, which will connect Ekos with other popular Aspen Comics characters like Aspen (from Fathom) and Grace (from Soulfire). This new volume promises a huge adventure for Ekos fans, and the initial pages suggest it will be a truly impressive installment.
The positive reception to Ekos Volume 2 reminds me of the excitement surrounding the release of Iron Man in 2008. I feel just as enthusiastic about this series as I did when starting the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I’m pleased we’re paying tribute to Michael Turner’s work in a way that resonates with modern audiences, according to Maisel.
If you support the Ekos Vol. 2 campaign, you can also add beautiful alternate cover designs. Take a look at the stunning artwork below! Plus, if you pledge within the first 72 hours, you’ll receive two extra gifts: a 6×9 inch Ekos art print and a 2-inch Enkos enamel pin.
If you’d like to return to the standard pledge levels starting at $50, here are your choices. Tier 1 includes a large 9″x12″ hardcover edition of Ekos Volume 2 with a unique dust jacket. Tier 2 offers Ekos Vol. 2 as a set of four comic issues with special, limited-edition covers that connect – you can see the artwork below. For $95, Tier 3 gets you both options. Plus, higher tiers let you add things like alternate covers, collectible trading cards, shirts, stickers, dioramas, and sketches.
You can also collect special cover editions separately or in bundles. If you didn’t get the first volume of Ekos, you can still add the hardcover, single issues, and variant covers. Ekos Vol. 2 is written by JT Krul, with artwork by Alex Konat, inks by Mark Roslan, colors by Peter Steigerwald, and lettering by Josh Reed. The official description for Ekos Vol. 2 is available below.
Volume 2 of Ekos picks up where the first book left off, following the new hero Grell as he explores the world of Ekos. He teams up with popular characters from Michael Turner’s stories – like Aspen (from Fathom) and Grace (from Soulfire) – for a common goal. This is the first time all these characters have appeared together, and Volume 2 continues their adventure as they face challenges in their worlds and dramatic encounters with humans.
You can check out the full campaign for Ekos Vol. 2 on Kickstarter.
