Lazarus cast: Who stars in Harlan Coben’s Prime Video thriller?

Harlan Coben has become famous for creating TV thrillers that are full of suspense and keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

Though he’s well-known for his shows on Netflix, the popular author has created a brand new series for Prime Video called Lazarus – and it’s not based on any of his previous books. This isn’t the first time he’s worked with a streaming service, however; his series Shelter, which adapted one of his young adult novels, was previously on another platform but has since been cancelled.

I just finished the new Harlan Coben series and it’s a real rollercoaster! It centers around Joel Lazarus, played by Sam Claflin, who goes back home when his dad, Dr. Jonathan Lazarus (Bill Nighy), unexpectedly takes his own life. But things get weird fast. Joel starts experiencing these unsettling things he can’t explain, and before you know it, he’s pulled into investigating a bunch of old, unsolved murders. It’s seriously gripping!

Coben considered writing the story as a novel, but realized its eerie, almost otherworldly atmosphere lent itself better to a visual medium. He envisioned it as a compelling TV series rather than a book.

But who’s who in Lazarus? Read on to find out about the cast of the new Prime Video drama.

Bill Nighy as Dr Jonathan Lazarus

Dr. Jonathan Lazarus’s father, also a doctor, was a well-respected psychiatrist. His sudden death by suicide deeply affected his family and friends, who struggled to understand what led to it, as the events before his death remained a mystery.

Many people wonder where they recognize Bill Nighy from. He’s a well-known actor with a long career in both movies and theater. He’s appeared in popular films like Love Actually, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Notes on a Scandal, Living, and About Time. Other notable roles include appearances in State of Play, The Man Who Fell to Earth, and Ordeal by Innocence.

Alexandra Roach as Jenna Lazarus

Jenna Lazarus is Laz’s sister, and she’s also grieving the loss of their father. Unlike her brother, Jenna is deeply spiritual, but like him, she’s struggling to understand their family’s difficult history.

You might recognize Alexandra Roach from shows like No Offence, Sanditon, Viewpoint, and The Light in the Hall. She’s also appeared in Men Up, Nightsleeper, and Bodies.

David Fynn as Seth McGovern

Seth McGovern is Laz’s friend from childhood, and now a detective sergeant with the police. Even though they haven’t been in touch recently, they quickly fall back into their old dynamic, and Seth finds himself helping Laz with his unusual ideas – much to his own frustration.

You might recognize David Fynn from shows like Am I Being Unreasonable?, Vanity Fair, Avenue 5, and Belgravia: The Next Chapter. He’s also appeared in Undateable, Daddy Issues, The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe, and provided voice work for Trolls: Trolltopia.
