Fans of Vince Gilligan, the creative mind behind hits like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, have a new show to look forward to. Apple TV has released the first trailer for Pluribus (also known as PLUR1BUS), his latest series. This nine-episode sci-fi drama is an unusual story where the world’s most unhappy person, Carol Sturka (played by Rhea Seehorn), is tasked with saving everyone from… happiness. The trailer gives a longer look at Carol’s story, and it’s clear things aren’t going to be easy for her.
Until recently, details about the movie Pluribus have been scarce and mysterious. The newly released trailer offers the best glimpse yet at the story, which centers around Carol and everyone’s surprising mission to make her happy. It seems Carol is the only person unaffected by a strange virus that has turned the rest of the world’s population into perfectly content people. In the trailer, the President tells Carol, “Rest assured, we will figure out what makes you different… so you can join us,” as scientists in protective suits conduct experiments.
After seeing her impressive work as Kim Wexler on AMC’s Better Call Saul, creator Vince Gilligan wrote the lead role of Carol Sturka in Pluribus specifically for Rhea Seehorn. He’s described her character as someone striving to do the right thing – a flawed but ultimately heroic figure. Seehorn will act alongside Karolina Wydra (Sneaky Pete) and Carlos Manuel Vesga (The Hijacking of Flight 601), with guest appearances from Miriam Shor (American Fiction) and Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death), who will likely challenge her character.
