Star Wars Outlaws Studio is Offering its Employees the Option to Voluntarily Leave the Company

As part of ongoing changes at Ubisoft, the company is now offering a “voluntary career transition program” to employees at its Massive Entertainment studio. This program is essentially a request for some employees to voluntarily leave their positions, similar to a layoff. The studio announced this on social media.

This program offers employees a voluntary way to leave Massive Entertainment with a generous severance package, including financial support and help finding a new job.

To help us grow and plan for the future, we’ve reorganized our teams and how we use our resources. This will help us improve our plans for The Division franchise and the technology behind our games, like Snowdrop and Ubisoft Connect, so we can continue to deliver great experiences.

To help everyone adjust to these changes, we created a program that allows eligible employees to explore new career opportunities with support. This includes financial assistance and help with career planning, giving them control over their next steps.

Massive Entertainment is doubling down on The Division franchise. This means continued support and new content for The Division 2, development of The Division 2: Survivors, ongoing work on The Division Resurgence, and even the beginning stages of a third Division game. The studio stated that all these projects are moving forward with strong dedication, and they promise to share more details soon.

I just saw a report that Ubisoft is considering restructuring another one of its studios, RedLynx. Apparently, they’re proposing changes that could affect up to 60 jobs there. It’s not a done deal yet, though – the plan still needs to be fully approved, and there’s no word on when they’ll actually move forward with it.

According to Ubisoft RedLynx managing director Celine Pasula, this proposal involves tough decisions made after thorough thought. They understand this news is significant and recognize it may affect people and teams.

We believe RedLynx will remain a valuable part of Ubisoft, continuing to innovate on mobile technology and help us reach more players across different platforms, especially on mobile devices.

This restructuring plan would shift RedLynx’s focus from developing games for all platforms to creating games specifically for mobile devices.

This announcement follows Ubisoft’s recent reveal of Vantage Studios, its new development team. Led by co-CEOs Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes, Vantage Studios will focus on creating and supporting three of Ubisoft’s biggest game series: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six.

The creation of Vantage Studios also resulted in Marc-Alexis Côté, who previously led the Assassin’s Creed franchise, leaving the company earlier this month.
