Eilyn Jimenez and Ray Jimenez are grappling with a confusing loss.
The stars of the HGTV show Divided by Design recently announced the sad passing of their dog, Aria, earlier this summer. They claim Aria died while under the care of a pet sitter in Miami, and that the pet sitter was dishonest about how she died.
The couple shared on Instagram on October 21st that their 12-year-old Shih Tzu, Aria, had passed away on August 29th while they were traveling. They said the pet sitter met them with the sad news upon their return home two days later, explaining that Aria had died peacefully in her sleep.
The couple stated that the pet sitter they found on Rover informed them their pet had passed away from a heart attack. The sitter supported this claim with a friend who they said was a veterinarian.
The couple claimed the entire story was made up. They stated that records from the crematorium demonstrate Aria’s body was delivered for cremation on the day she died, with an expedited request.
Eilyn and Ray asked the crematorium for details, and records showed the person who brought in Aria – her partner – stated she had been killed by a larger dog.
They detailed horrific injuries – a detached scalp, a protruding eye – injuries that clearly weren’t from natural causes. The pair also stated that Aria was cremated without their permission, which they believe was done to destroy evidence and cover up what happened.
As a huge fan, it’s been so upsetting to follow this situation. We’ve learned that the HGTV stars have repeatedly reached out to those involved, giving them plenty of chances to explain what happened to their beloved dog. Unfortunately, no one has taken responsibility yet, which is just heartbreaking to see.

Everyone makes mistakes, they said. But creating such a detailed false story to avoid taking responsibility isn’t a mistake—it’s a deliberate lie. Aria deserved honesty and justice, and we simply want the truth to come out and for those responsible for her death to be held accountable.
Soon after Eilyn and Ray publicly shared what happened, a Rover spokesperson expressed the company’s sympathy for Aria’s family, saying they could only imagine how devastating this must be.
After learning about Aria’s death, Rover’s Trust & Safety team immediately investigated. According to a company statement reported by People magazine, the pet sitter involved has been permanently removed from Rover and will no longer be able to book or communicate with pet owners through the platform.
The company confirmed they had reached out to the reality stars after the loss of their pet. They also offered to help police with any investigation if needed.
Rover finished their statement by saying that safety is their highest concern and they are deeply saddened by Aria’s death, taking the matter very seriously.
TopMob News has reached out to Rover regarding the incident but has not yet heard back.
