Alma Cooper is moving on.
Just hours before the Miss USA 2025 final event began on October 24th, the current Miss USA 2024 announced she would not be participating in the crowning ceremony or final round.
I’ve made the very difficult decision not to participate in this year’s Miss USA pageant and crowning ceremony,” Cooper shared on Instagram, along with photos of herself wearing her winner’s sash. “I’m closing this chapter knowing I completed my journey with honesty and a strong sense of self-respect, just like the honor of wearing the crown.
The 23-year-old shared that she carefully considered her choice not to compete in the finals. This is where the reigning queen usually crowns the new winner.
She shared in a recent post that she consistently strives for the best in everything she does. This drive, she explained, helped her graduate in the top 50 of her class at West Point, complete three marathons within ten months, and earn a prestigious Knight-Hennessy Fellowship at Stanford University.
The former Miss Michigan, who won Miss USA after Noelia Voigt made history by becoming the first Miss USA to resign, credits her strong work ethic for her win in the pageant.
When I won Miss USA, I carried the same passionate approach, excited to inspire young people worldwide through Miss Universe and in communities across the country,” Cooper explained. “I truly believe success isn’t meaningful unless I can use it to help others grow, and I want my achievements to be a foundation for someone else’s.
TopMob News reached out to the Miss USA pageant for comment but has not heard back.

Although the organization hasn’t officially commented on Cooper’s announcement, Miss USA CEO Thom Brodeur had previously mentioned her potential involvement in the 2025 pageant before the preliminary competition on October 22nd, stating she hadn’t yet confirmed if she would participate.
We’ve been communicating with Alma and her team ever since we took over Miss USA,” he shared on Instagram, according to People. “We hoped to warmly invite Alma to participate in the 2025 competition in a way that felt comfortable for her.

Even though she didn’t respond at first, Brodeur—who became leader in September 2025 after Laylah Rose resigned following claims of a negative workplace—said the invitation remains open. Rose refuted those claims in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.
Brodeur continued, paying tribute to Alma. “You are a queen,” he said, “and we consider you our queen, even though we didn’t begin this experience with you. You will always be remembered as Miss USA 2024.”

Jax Taylor has confirmed he won’t be back for season three of The Valley. This decision comes after fans expressed concerns about his actions during the previous season.
Okay, so Jax just shared this, and honestly, it’s… a lot. He said in July 2025 that right now, he needs to focus on getting sober, taking care of his mental health, and being a good dad to Cruz, especially with everything going on with Brittany and the divorce. He basically said he needs this time to become a better version of himself, and a better father to our little Cruz. I just… I want him to be okay, you know? It’s tough seeing him go through this, but I’m rooting for him to get there.

Several cast members from Saturday Night Live recently announced they won’t be back for the show’s 51st season, with the news coming within a short period of time for each of them.

As a longtime follower of daytime television, I was a little sad to see Sofia Mattsson leave her role as Sasha Gilmore on the show after seven wonderful years! Her character had a lovely exit – she simply moved to Paris for a fresh start. It was a sweet send-off for a fan favorite!

Even though fans likely expected Joel Miller, played by Pedro Pascal, to die – his fate in April 2025 closely mirrored the events of The Last of Us Part II, the video game the second season of The Last of Us is based on – the way his character was violently killed still came as a shock.
Pascal, known for dying in roles on shows like Game of Thrones and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, wasn’t surprised by his character’s fate. He jokingly told Entertainment Weekly that he’s used to it, saying, “I like to die.”

As a longtime follower of TV trends, I have to say it was a bit bittersweet watching Peter Krause wrap up his incredible run as Bobby Nash on 9-1-1. After what he called a ‘wild adventure,’ he officially played his last scene as the LA Fire Department captain in an episode airing April 2025. It definitely marked the end of an era for the show!
According to a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, the character Bobby Nash was intentionally created to be a selfless hero. Creator Ryan Krause explained that first responders put themselves in danger daily to save others, and Bobby Nash’s storyline is meant to pay tribute to their bravery.
The decision to kill off a popular, yet troubled, firefighter was definitely controversial, showrunner Tim Minear told Variety. He explained that after eight seasons, it was necessary for the show to have real consequences in future storylines, and that meant someone needed to die.

Summer just got a little less fun.
In June 2025, Paige DeSorbo revealed she was leaving the Bravo series after being on the show for seven seasons.

In February 2023, Ellen Pompeo finished her run as Meredith Grey on the ABC drama after playing the character for 19 years.
Pompeo admitted on The Drew Barrymore Show in December 2022 that she felt the need to try new things. Despite already returning for a guest spot in May and continuing to narrate the show, she explained that at 53, she felt mentally scattered and couldn’t keep doing the same things, like the New York Times crossword puzzle, every day.

It was truly a labor of love for him and the entire team.

She shared that playing Macy was a huge honor, and she genuinely loved working with everyone involved – the producers, writers, cast, and crew. It definitely felt like a loss for us fans!

As a longtime fan of The Blacklist, I was really disappointed to learn we’ll never know the full truth about Raymond Reddington, thanks to Megan Boone’s departure. It was heartbreaking to see Liz killed off at the end of season eight, especially knowing she was so close to discovering everything in that letter! Megan Boone herself seemed at peace with the decision, though, sharing on Instagram that working on the show had been ‘a dream.’ It just feels like a major piece of the puzzle is missing now.

The second season of Bridgerton didn’t include Rege-Jean Page, who became a fan favorite in the first season of the popular Netflix drama. His departure was announced in 2021, disappointing many viewers.
He told Vanity Fair that he simply did the work he signed up for, and then took on additional assignments. “That’s all there is to it,” he said. “I wish there was a more exciting story behind it.”

Ruby Rose first appeared as Batwoman (Kate Kane) in a 2018 Arrowverse event and then led the CW’s Batwoman series for one season, becoming the first openly lesbian superhero to star in her own show. She left the role in 2020, shortly after the first season ended. In season two, Javicia Leslie took over as Ryan Wilder, a new character who becomes the next Batwoman.
Later on in season two, Kate got a bit of a face swap and returned played by Wallis Day.

America Ferrera left the show Superstore after its fifth season in 2020, which meant Cloud 9 lost its manager and the series lost a main character. When season six was decided to be the show’s last, she returned for the final episode to give her character, Amy, and Jonah (Ben Feldman) a satisfying conclusion.

In the final episode of season four of the Syfy show The Magicians, Jason Ralph’s character, Quentin, successfully rescued Eliot, played by Hale Appleman, but died in the process. Although the show often features characters dying – it is called The Magicians – Ralph did not reprise his role in the fifth and final season.

Ahead of the final season, Arrow‘s Emily Bett Rickards announced her exit in a poem of sorts.
Felicity and I are very close, but after completing grades one through seven, we’ll be leaving.
She did, however, return for a guest appearance in the show’s 2020 series finale.

Lauren Cohan initially left The Walking Dead in 2018 after difficult contract talks. While she appeared in a few episodes of season nine, her character, Maggie Greene, disappeared after a time jump of six years. The show’s producers wanted her to come back, and when her short-lived TV series Whiskey Cavalier was cancelled, she did. Cohan returned to The Walking Dead in the 16th episode of season ten, which aired in October 2020.

It felt like losing family when Danai Gurira left The Walking Dead right after Rick! I mean, I was absolutely devastated. She joined as Michonne in season three, and honestly, she was Michonne – fierce, amazing with that katana, just…everything. Seeing her last episode air in March 2020 was brutal. It just wasn’t the same without her. I still miss her so much!

Nicollette Sheridan played the memorable Alexis Carrington in season one and became a regular cast member in season two. In 2019, she decided to leave the CW series reboot before season three to care for her mother, who was unwell.

He jokingly referenced his character’s line, saying, “Murtaugh said, ‘too old for this.’”
There was no need for producers to find a replacement, as the show ended after just three seasons.
