However, there are instances when these narratives take a hilarious turn, such as in One-Punch Man, or even get downright bizarre, like Adult Swim’s latest offering. This April, Adult Swim unleashed one more hit anime: Shinichiro Watanabe’s Lazarus. They’re aiming to recreate lightning in a bottle twice by introducing a series that only fits on Adult Swim. Brace yourselves, because sometimes it takes more than a superpowered human to save the world… it requires the skills of a kung-fu rooster!
Title of the new anime is perfectly chosen as “Rooster Fighter”, boasting one of the most captivating taglines ever. The weekend saw the initial trailer of this anime being unveiled at Viz Media’s Anime Expo panel, and it appears to be a wild ride for all the right reasons. The series is derived from the manga of the same name by Shu Sakuratani, which began serialization on Hero Inc’s online platform Comiplex in 2020 and continues to this day.
Adult Swim’s Rooster Fighter Unveils Cracking First Trailer
As a diehard fan, I’ve got to tell you – the first trailer for “Rooster Fighter” is every bit as wild as you’d imagine! It’s jam-packed with intense showdowns between our hero, Kaiji the rooster, and the towering demons he battles to protect mankind. But what sets this action-packed series apart is the emotional tug-of-war between Kaiji and his ex, a hen named Elizabeth. The romance might be heartfelt, but the stakes are high as humanity’s fate hangs in the balance!
VIZ, based outside of Japan, has licensed the production of this show, which is overseen by Sanzigen. Daisuke Suzuki directs the series, while Hiroshi Seko pens the scripts, and Joseph Chou along with Sola Entertainment handle the production. The show boasts a talented cast, featuring Kenta Miyake as the legendary rooster fighter, Keiji, Mariko Honda as Elizabeth, and Shiori Izawa as Piyoko. At the recent expo, it was announced that Matsuaki Kanuka and Tomohiro Ono will be joining the show, voicing Moio and Keisuke respectively.

Regrettably, enthusiasts of the manga and those captivated by the trailer will need to be patient, as Rooster Fighter won’t be making its way onto Adult Swim until Spring 2026. At this time, a specific release date hasn’t been disclosed yet.
