Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Director Says It’s in a “Really Good State,” “Something Really Satisfying”

Although Square Enix hasn’t officially announced the title or release date, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, says development on the third game in the Remake series is progressing very well.

I’m so excited to hear they’re really making progress on the third Remake game! Someone from the team told VGC that it’s coming along great. They’ve finally solidified their vision for how it will play – they know exactly what they want the core gameplay experience to be, and it sounds like everything is really shaping up nicely. As a fan, that’s awesome to hear!

Okay, so Hamaguchi didn’t give a ton of specifics, but he promised something really engaging for us gamers. He said it’s going to be an amazing experience – exactly what we’re hoping for. They’re still polishing it up, but it sounds like we won’t have to wait too long to get our hands on it. I’m hyped!

The series is building to a fantastic finale, and I’m confident it will deliver exactly what fans are hoping for. You won’t be disappointed – it’s shaping up to be as great as you imagine, and I’m really proud of how the game is coming together.

Hamaguchi recently discussed the game’s conclusion, predicting it will be universally appealing. He also hinted at a fresh gameplay style, similar to the open-world design of Rebirth. Recognizing some players found parts of the second game slow, he assured fans that Part 3 will be more streamlined, though he doesn’t believe the longer sections in Rebirth were excessive.

Tetsuya Nomura, the creative director, mentioned that they’ve already set a release date internally, but aren’t ready to announce it yet. He did reassure fans that development is progressing well.

The third part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and the new Nintendo Switch 2. Before that, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will be available on Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2 starting January 22, 2026. Rebirth is also headed to both platforms, though we don’t know when it will be released yet.
